Thread deletion

In case anyone was wondering what happened to the thread,
Parenting : do you think its acceptable, for kids to be playing football outside your house all the time, hoofing the ball etc

...we deleted it on the grounds of it being an utterly pointless and extremely time consuming slanging match.

So I guess we might have stumbled upon some new deletion criteria - be warned if a thread ticks all those boxes it's in danger. And a reminder - MN's here to make parents' lives easier not make them cross.

Play nicely now,
MN Towers

No pointless threads?
No slanging matches?

RustyBear · 28/02/2008 12:40

Just trying something out -can't log in...

isn't the whole AIBU topic just pointless and extremely time consuming?

perhaps we could have a "nominate topic" button?

[scuttles off to check latest slanging match]

MerlinsBeard · 28/02/2008 12:50

i think in that case 99.9% of AIBU can go

(not that i see that anymore thanks to the glory that is hide topic!!)

FAQ · 28/02/2008 12:51

pointless and time consuming.........

ok see you all later

I like the idea of an ! (maybe in red?) next to a thread if MN are hovering over the delete button

slim22 · 28/02/2008 12:56

Can't you just render the thread inactive but leave it there so we can still read and have a laugh?

FAQ · 28/02/2008 13:13

that's a good idea slim - first of all there could be a little ! next to it (warning) and then if we all continue to ignore the warning a padlock next to it........so that no-one can post but we can sit and enjoy reading it
