Rather than deleting troll threads .. could we move them to a 'Troll section'

and change the colour of them (say to red) so that people can actually see quite how perniciously nasty or weird some of the trolls can be and why other people get so up in arms about the potential of them

i love a good troll hunt, i miss lav and her crazy gun toting ways.

expatinscotland · 26/02/2008 18:46

Nah, mozhe was fairly well-written.

Then, of course, we got to reminesce on trolls past: Judge Flounce, cowmad, lavendrrr, Vonda, hills/hillary, etc.

LyraSilvertongue · 26/02/2008 18:49

People were saying MrsGG was a troll from the start and they got pounced on for being sceptical. Someone even started a new thread saying if they couldn't say anything kind they shouldn't say anything at all.

LyraSilvertongue · 26/02/2008 18:49

Was Hillary a troll? Wasn't she supposed to have died?

expatinscotland · 26/02/2008 18:49

So some of us kept out of it all.

expatinscotland · 26/02/2008 18:50

Yes, Hillary and her fake friend who came on and announced the death were trolls.

LyraSilvertongue · 26/02/2008 18:51

Blimmin' 'eck. Why do people do it?

Beetroot · 26/02/2008 18:53

Cod email it to me

I KNEW IT I KNEW IT

Wish I had seen the climax though

WallOfSilence · 26/02/2008 18:54

I thought Hillary was an anorexic who starved herself to death.

Then her friend came on & posted about it.

???? What really happened?

ruty · 26/02/2008 18:56

quite a lot of people thing mozhe was real still. Real and waterski-ing after just giving birth or something.

Suspected Mrs GG but kept out of it. Dying to know what the climax was tho...

AitchTwoOh · 26/02/2008 18:56

no no, i really don't think hillls was a troll, seriously. she posted a lot, about mundane things like car seats etc. she was alright imo.

i did believe in her anorexia too, my feeling is that she went away for a while, pouted that no-one had noticed her absence and then posted in another name to announce her death. now, that bit was shite and mean, granted, but i do think that she was real. and also really ill.

i agree with franny, i think funny trolls would be fine but many of them are just off their rockers, the poor sods, and acting out.

MerlinsBeard · 26/02/2008 18:57

Hillllllls (or whatever) was an anorexic in as far as i can gather (i think i knew her from pro ana boards) who faked her death and then posted as her friend to tell us about it.

I even went back to the pro ana boards to offer her help in her recovery which triggered lots of things for me.

FrannyandZooey · 26/02/2008 19:00

I was interested in what you said about the money thing, Aitch
you know last week I was saying how angry it made me when people exploit others' sympathy

I still feel a bit like that - some of us can afford to send money much more than we can afford to get sucked in emotionally, do you know what I mean?

I am not sure if I see the money thing as the final 'she has overstepped the mark', necessarily

taking someone's sympathy and time is just as serious, to me

and you could argue that presumably the poster needs what they are asking for - whether money, or sympathy...why is it ok to obtain emotional support under false pretences but not money?

just been mulling it over today. What do you think?

Judgypants · 26/02/2008 19:00

As soon as the word eviction was mentioned, it was pretty obvious that a there was a good chance that a collection would ensue...

If you think of the amount of forums that are around, it's a winner!

There are unscrupulous people everywhere.

AitchTwoOh · 26/02/2008 19:04

oh dear. would you not do it again, mom?

Blandmum · 26/02/2008 19:11

I worry a lot that people might think that I am a troll, since our situation is so dramatic

MarsLady · 26/02/2008 19:13

I went to see Wicked at the theatre and don't think it would be fair to paint the troll section green. Elphaba was chronically misunderstood and as to that Dorothy! Hmpf!

DumbledoresGirl · 26/02/2008 19:14

Was Vaunda a troll? God she was good entertainment!

ruty · 26/02/2008 19:15

but MB you've been posting for ages and have posted on all sorts of stuff [ always with great insight and clarity!] Can't imagine how anyone could think that.

Twiglett · 26/02/2008 19:16

is that cos of the hairy feet MB?

OP posts:
MarsLady · 26/02/2008 19:16

Judgeflounce... now that was a time.

DumbledoresGirl · 26/02/2008 19:18

Yes Marsy I agree. JF, Vaunda and Lavenderr - always good entertainment value. I know people say JF was dangerous, but only if you are daft enough to take the word of a complete stranger you have not even met.
