I once made a trolling attempt. did you know that?

I was WrinklyLurve, posting about my noisy bonking neighbours.

I was utterly utterly crap at it!

onepieceoflollipop · 26/02/2008 13:27

DdG your initial translation was my first thought tbh (I'm a nurse) - then I thought that no one would be getting upset about a bit of D&V! As always, I worked it out myself once I had pressed send.

Buda · 26/02/2008 13:29

Maybe we need a different name for the funny type 'trolls' - Greeny's hamster was hilarious (and tasty!) and people who come on telling lies?

mrsruffallo · 26/02/2008 13:29

hecate, it does takes skill to be a good troll doesn't it?

StealthPolarBear · 26/02/2008 13:31

This seems like a good lighthearted troll thread so can someone please please please tell me the Lavenderrr tale? No one ever talks about it. Or is it so bad that it now goes unmentioned by general unspoken agreement.
I kind of agree - this is meant to be an anonymous forum - it shouldn't really matter if a post is true or not - it's a bit ;like those problem pages you get in teenage mags, half of them are made up, but the advice is there for anyone in a similar situation. The problem I suppose is that this is more long term, people do get emotionally involved, conned into sharing their story where maybe they wouldn't have, send money or even take advice on important matters from someone they think they trust.

hecate · 26/02/2008 13:33

I know. . I had it all planned out as well. Livening up retirement with sexy role play. Alien Abduction Fridays, the lot.

And nobody bit.

There are some fun trolls. Rosemary Woodhouse (?) is one of my most favourite, with her darling sweetheart and next doors noisy lovemaking.

I still wonder if some of LisaLisa's mnore hillarious threads have been inspired genious trolling. (not accusing!!! but the entertainment value has been enormous!)

Trolls that jest with death, abuse, molestation etc makes my blood boil. People take things seriously, and get upset as it touches raw nerves, as somebody else said.

Oh, and I too thought Mozhe was a troll, till I met a mumsnetter who knows her RL.

AitchTwoOh · 26/02/2008 13:47

QS, no way! mozhe is real? oh fantastic. i want her to come back.

re the trolls, seems to me it's much more important that we remain open-minded and remember how much people suffer in silence than it is to smoke out trolls. that's what MN is about. the money thing, however, we should be cautious about.

taffy101 · 26/02/2008 13:47

i thought mozhe was a troll. Too on top of everything with 6 kids an'all

QueenMeabhOfConnaught · 26/02/2008 13:48

Mozhe is real - wow!!!! Bring her back!

StealthPolarBear · 26/02/2008 13:48

tmmj, I think that was pretty much it!
Thanks for explaining lavenderrr

GetOrfMoiLand · 26/02/2008 13:48

mozhe couldn't have been real!

she was going waterskiing! 2 weeks after she gave birth (unless she has vaginal walls of steel I don't think that's possible)

VictorianSqualor · 26/02/2008 13:49

We really need some guidelines for trolls to follow to make their stories last a bit longer.

Like
1)Don't use google images, or if you do use page 23214 not page one or you'll be found out quick sharp.
2)Do post on a few topics before you start trolling otherwise you'll only get about four answerts before someone says 'I see this is your first post'
3)Don't post about something you have no clue about, cos someone else will and they'll out you.
4)Don't C&P, at least reword the stuff you google.

expatinscotland · 26/02/2008 13:50

Well, it does when you get someone like Judge Flounce, though, who was giving out legal advice that was obviously incorrect and asking people to come to him with legal problems.

That went beyond harmless.

Also people like 'cowmad' who were for all intents and purposes cyberstalking certain posters.

Not harmless.

expatinscotland · 26/02/2008 13:51

But yea, for the most part the Titania's and HugeMistakes of this board are of no long-term significance or harm.

TrollOutTheBarrell · 26/02/2008 13:51

Why are people so mean about me?

I'm just after the quiet life, I want to post on some forums and makes some new cyber-chums, but yet again, I am being victimised

It's just not FAIR!

Can't you all just fucking leave me alone?

expatinscotland · 26/02/2008 13:52

dampknickers and dumbfluff and bluecheese were hysterical, though.

VictorianSqualor · 26/02/2008 13:54

I must be too trusting cos I always get caught up in the troll threads.
I even told RosemaryWoodhouse I didn't think it would harm her nephew if she got him exorcised.

TrollOutTheBarrell · 26/02/2008 13:55

Rosemarywoodhouse and her Sweethreat or he love or whatever

The one with the demonic nephew?

VictorianSqualor · 26/02/2008 13:56

Yep, I said I didn't see how it could harm him, just being sat on a chair with a priest spouting stuff at him.
Still not sure it would do too much damage tbh.

GetOrfMoiLand · 26/02/2008 13:56

PMSL Trolloutthebarrell

Whoever the hell you are, keep that name

TrollOutTheBarrell · 26/02/2008 13:57
