If you tag a poster using the @ symbol, it's impossible to delete it

So ie if I'm replying to a post and tag the wrong poster, then go to delete it and tag the right poster - once the @whoever has gone bold it won't delete.

Does that make any sense? So now, if I wanted to delete @whoever in the paragraph above, I can't. It won't delete. If I make a mistake with a tag when typing a reply, the only way to edit before posting is to cut the entire reply, paste into a google doc, delete the tag, paste back into the reply box.

Using latest version of Chrome on an up to date S10.

@Queenanne20 We've identified the issue with mentions, which we're in the process of fixing - we'll keep you updated.

@CaptainBeanThief are you able to send us a screen recording? (You can send to [email protected] ) Also please let us know which browser you are using.

Thank you.

{mention:BeckyAMumsnet}thanks@BeckyAMumsnetthanks that would be great if you could fix the mentions and also the repeated tagging of someone's name.

Hi there @DingsBum. We have released a fix for this now. There is a bin icon in the message field - just below the message itself. If you tag someone, you can select the bin icon and this will clear all text (not just the username) in the message field. So it's still slightly fiddly if you have typed any more than the username but if you just copy any text from the message that you want without the username, then hit the bin icon you can paste back the part of the message you still want.

This seems like a cumbersome, clunky workaround rather than a fix!
