Yes when they combined or deleted topics in the past MNHQ have always consulted users, and it's usually because traffic on those topics is slow.

Also it's really concerning that MNHQ didn't know it had been deleted.

More worrying that it appears not to be MNHQ that has removed it.

Maybe someone decided (not unreasonably) that there's enough going on in the UK that's actually important and disastrous, so felt that minusing a bit of the bread and circuses distraction was no bad thing?

Given mnhq call their users nuts, I’m not sure they’d consult staff before hitting the delete button.

We're releasing a fix for this now, it should be fixed later on this evening.

But deleting the topic doesn't help. The discussions are just going to be in chat or AIBU. At least with the RF topic users who didn't want to see those threads were able to hide the majority of them by hiding the topic.

So the theory about why the section disappeared revolves around there being too many memes.

So people start posting memes.

I was actually thinking earlier the threads have toned down in wattage and people seem to have calmed down a lot - some of them were even sort of nice (if you squint side ways) maybe this is reverse psychology and the Sussexes WANT is to carry on posting millions of angry threads....
