What is this ‘You might also like’ clutter?

Hi MNHQ. Please just take it out. Or let me opt out of it? It looks a mess.

If here’s something that I might also like to read, I’ll find it by using the search function.
These suggestions are just encouraging the posting of the same points on multiple similar threads, and that will discourage healthy normal thread death.

It’s really distracting to look at visually, I really liked the uncluttered ‘clean’ MN format compared to other forums.

OOOOH

It seems to have gone! For me anyway - anyone else?

Thank you!

FluffyYucca · 17/11/2022 16:27

Still there for me 😞

BIWI · 17/11/2022 16:29

You got me all excited there @minipie - but sadly it's still there Sad

TattiePants · 17/11/2022 16:29

Still there for me too unfortunately

DappledThings · 17/11/2022 16:34

Mine's gone too! I hope it's really gone and this isn't a glitch

At least it's gone from threads in Chat and AIBU. Still there in Christmas. Maybe being removed one section at a time?

MNHQ if you really are removing it altogether then a big thank you for listening.

minipie · 17/11/2022 16:40

Oh yes it’s still there for me in other sections eg Property.

Still having it gone from Chat and AIBU is a good start.

I've just posted on the thread about queuing for Tesco Xmas delivery slots.
The title has a number in it. The related threads are 111 and 999 or 101 and (strangely) one about BFP.

I don't think not getting a Tesco delivery slot warrants a 999 call, or even (despite MN's eagerness to 'log it with the police') 101.

Grin At least that one's just inept, not upsetting.

BruceAndNosh · 17/11/2022 16:43

@MNHQ surely it's just easier to remove it completely rather than piecemeal?
What a shambles. I hope you didn't pay someone to come up with this idea.

00100001 · 17/11/2022 17:29

It's changed to "Similar Threads"

Itwasntevenblackpudding · 17/11/2022 17:43

Excellent! Just what we all need - more links to debates about how often to shower.

Maybe we could pop onto all of those threads and ask the OPs how many showers they have had since they originally posted?

Saucery · 17/11/2022 17:46

Now now, Herbert The Pervert greatly appreciates a handy list of filthy threads to browse, I’m sure.

skyeisthelimit · 17/11/2022 17:54

I thought it was interesting, but they are mainly old threads and there are now loads of zombie threads being commented on because of it. not a good idea :(

BIWI · 17/11/2022 20:16

I actually went and checked out Netmums this afternoon.

MissMarpleRocks · 17/11/2022 20:18

I did once long ago.

I prefer it here.

MissMarpleRocks · 17/11/2022 20:26

Apart from here & the red place which is too confusing for me I know of no other sites. So I hope this stays.

BoreOfWhabylon · 17/11/2022 20:34

As I posted earlier, this has all the hallmarks of being developer/consultant driven and not the fault of the MNHQers who are sent out to interact with us.

No one who knows MN and its users would have recommended this, particularly when we are already being spammed almost nightly by a vindictive troll intent on making the site unusable by bumping zombie threads.

I wonder if @JustineMumsnet is aware of just how counterintuitive this latest 'improvement' appears to be?

I left they when they changed everything. Still wouldn't go back if you paid me. 😃

We're still in the process of tweaking this feature but we are listening to all of your feedback.

Im not trying to be rude here but you're clearly not listening as the overwhelming feedback to the feature is to remove it completely.

Agree entirely. This has been badly thought through. Minority Mumsnetters have fought long and hard to not be shown in current / trending / active threads. And now this gets thrown into the mix.

Also, as has been said before - what purpose does this new feature serve? It's bringing up Zombie threads and making folk scroll longer to the end of any thread in order to comment.
