Strange screen on trying to get on the website just now!

Chrome for Android. Can add other details if you need them.

Problems for me on iPhone app. Deleted and reinstalled, now it's working again. Couldn't access at all on web.

AllLopsided · 07/06/2022 23:06

I got 'maybe you have no internet connection' on the app around the same time (not true as Safari and Facebook were both working). Seems to happen regularly around this time!

uncomfortablydumb53 · 07/06/2022 23:07

Same here for the second time

Sortilege · 07/06/2022 23:12

FfeminyddCymraeg · 07/06/2022 22:55

Same on iPhone/safari

Me too.

Jott · 07/06/2022 23:16

Same.

Samsung phone with whatever the latest software update is and using Chrome browser.

These are the error messages I'm getting.

Me too and also had a couple of 504s yesterday

Jott · 07/06/2022 23:18

And the message about "please allow up to five seconds" just kept resetting itself on an endless cycle of five seconds blocks, I had to completely shut down the browser window to get rid of it.

I'm experiencing the same.

Yarnasaurus · 07/06/2022 23:20

Same here

Thinkingblonde · 07/06/2022 23:21

Same here, about five minutes ago. Slow to load, then the message popped followed by Error 504

grapehyacinthisactuallyblue · 07/06/2022 23:22

Yep.

Rogue1001MNer · 07/06/2022 23:23

Feck. And me

PrincessFiorimonde · 07/06/2022 23:24

Me too, just now. Using Chrome on a laptop. Unlike some pp, it's the first time I've seen this message (though I didn't look at MN yesterday).

ToastedWaffle · 07/06/2022 23:25

I'm guessing its hackers. Had the same thing at the same time last night

AhhSlippedOnMahBeansRitaaa · 07/06/2022 23:30

Couldn't access the site at all for a few hours yesterday and thought it was same again tonight when I got the DDOS pop up!

EatSleepReplete · 07/06/2022 23:31

Yes, and error 500/504 today & most recently a 502 as well. Keep getting the patronising "cup of tea" server message. And it's ridiculously glitchy to load text or new pages, when I'm typing the text doesn't keep up, photos aren't showing, ads are not working or are crashing the page (no particular ad but it's worse with the ones that move), basically everything is screwed. All other sites are fine.

butterflymum · 08/06/2022 09:37

@KatyMumsnet realise you are likely very busy, but hopeful of a response on this thread. At 15:49 and 16:41 yesterday, you gave 'reassurances' on the re-platforming-inown issues thread about a somewhat concerning ddos matter, yet I think the examples I and others have posted on this thread, happened after you said on the other thread that there had been a fix.

Are the issues being raised on this thread, new instances of the same problem?

KatyMumsnet · 08/06/2022 12:23

Hi all. Apologies for the delayed response.

We have no reason to believe that this is a DDoS attack. There is a temporary issue with one of our servers which means it is getting backed up with requests at around the same time each evening.

To mitigate the problem, we switch on the CloudFlare message which provides a short "wait" until the site is loaded. This allows the server to become unblocked and resume normal functioning. It references DDoS attacks because that is the primary use case for the feature, but - in this instance - we don't believe that to be the underlying cause.

There is nothing to worry about so I hope that helps to reassure you!

Hoardasurass · 08/06/2022 14:54

@KatyMumsnet whilst it's great that this is not an attack but I'm still having problems loading pages and bookmarking which is making using this site almost impossible

butterflymum · 09/06/2022 11:06

@KatyMumsnet thanks for the update, it is appreciated. Missed seeing it sooner as oddly, I didn't get notification that the thread had been added to, yet have been getting notifications for other threads.

KatyMumsnet · 09/06/2022 12:16

@Hoardasurass we are looking at issues with site speed at the moment. What issues are you having with bookmarking?

@butterflymum that's odd that you didn't get the notification - I will flag that to the development team to see if there's a wider problem

Hoardasurass · 09/06/2022 20:29

@KatyMumsnet I'm having a few problems mainly due to slow loading of pages which seems to be causing problems posting as it often fails to load and then asks me to retype my message (3rd attempt to post this) and trying to bookmark I keep getting the bookmark failed message after showing the spinning (loading) icon for ages.
