Can't see my private messages

Yesterday I received a notification that I have a private message, but when I go to my inbox there is nothing there. It's completely empty, as I deleted all my private messages a few days ago. This morning I now have a notification that I have two private messages. I can't see any of them. The annoying notification remains, but I can't do anything about it.

So what is it? Do I have private messages or not? I don't have any blocked users, so why do I get notifications if I have no messages. If I do have messages why don't they show up?

Please fix this, because it's starting to drive me nuts. I hate useless notifications I can't do anything with or about.

Hello SpongeBob and BillyBagpuss. Thanks for passing this on. We'll add it to the info we're working with at the moment. Hopefully we'll have a fix soon and the ghostly messages will stop.

@HebeMumsnet I don't want to have to call Ghostbusters, or my friendly neighbourhood excorcist.

@HebeMumsnet just had another Ghost message appeared, definitely not one I haven't read.
