welcome and log out?

I have just noticed at the top it says welcome and log out what is that about and what is log out for?

How long has it been there?

Hi, We'll change it so it doesn't display your name. I did think of that, but... Threads I'm on will still work of course.

Log out is because.... you might have noticed that once you've posted a message, the site "remembers" your nickname and password until you close your browser session, so you don't have to keep typing them each time you add a message. "Log out" makes it forget, so you can leave the room without worrying about pesky children / husbands impersonating you. We are basically overhauling a few things about registration / CAT / email newsletters etc to make it all simpler and easier to manage in one place. This is part of that. I'm hoping to get "threads I'm watching" up this weekend.

Hi there, It's been happening this evening because I've benn stopping and starting the server. When I shut it down it "forgets" everybody. It should keep you in now, unless you don't do anything for about 30 minutes, in which case it will log you out.
