Why do I keep getting this “Enjoying this thread? Why not add it to your watch list” message every time I move on to a new page of a thread that I haven’t posted on?

It’s bloody annoying that when I’m starting to read a thread that’s 20 pages long this nonsense message pops up every time I move on to a new page.

Lots of threads I just want to skip through and not engage with, so I really don’t want to add to a watch list. Stop asking me please.

It is annoying and unbelievably in poor taste when it pops up on sensitive or difficult topics. Remember many posters will start threads in the more mainstream Chat / AIBU forums rather than in bereavement, for example.

Not sure this was completely thought out...

BumBurnerBum · 27/11/2021 10:46

Horrible new feature

GreenLunchBox · 27/11/2021 10:49

Yes, it's annoying

PragmaticWench · 27/11/2021 10:49

Came here to start a thread about that INFURIATINGLY damn annoying pop up. MNHQ just turn it off!!!!!!!!!!

JohnnyCashcard · 27/11/2021 10:54

YES! So annoying, please turn it off, MN!

I'd assumed it was because I was reading threads on Style and Beauty and MN will make money out of any links I click on. Horrified to see that people are getting the same message in more sensitive topics.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 27/11/2021 11:12

Another vote for getting rid of it. It will encourage people to post without RTFT as they'll skip to the last page to avoid the repeated pop ups.
Those of us who do RTFT will now have to put up with repeated pop ups AND the pages of 'Cancel the cheque' from those who didn't.

TooBigForMyBoots · 27/11/2021 11:15

So annoying @MNHQ, please make it stop.

TheCatWearsPrada · 27/11/2021 14:01

It's annoying but so are many many posters who keep track by leaving an F or full stop on a thread.

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/11/2021 14:37

Agree it’s a proper pita. Take it away

Hobnobswantshernameback · 27/11/2021 14:39

I actually think you want people to stop visiting your site
Between This bollocks and that ridiculous Xmas trending shite you've made sure I spend a ton less time here

Crunchymum · 27/11/2021 14:40

It's in the bereavement section as well.

I'm already watching the thread I post on but there are other multi-page threads in that section I have read and I'd be appalled to have seen the "enjoying this thread" message pop up.

BorisKilledMyHusband · 27/11/2021 14:41

Another vote to stop. Very intrusive.

oviraptor21 · 27/11/2021 16:20

Another vote to turn it off.
I knew there would be a thread on it!

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 27/11/2021 16:23

Hello everyone - thanks for the feedback. We'll pass it on and get back to you as soon as we can with an update

CherieBabySpliffUp · 27/11/2021 16:24

I've not had this but I have opted for 1 page for the whole thread rather than 100 posts per page (I think?)
It might be a coincidence but maybe give that a try?

On my phone browser I don't have an option to expand the thread beyond 20 posts per page.its an option on desktop but not on my phone
RuthsRedDress · 27/11/2021 17:53

It's really annoying, please get rid of it, MNHQ!!!

Soubriquet · 27/11/2021 17:54

Happening to me now and it’s incredibly irritating

Enjoying this thread?
Chemenger · 27/11/2021 18:00

Please make this stop. If I’m enjoying a thread I am perfectly able to put it on my watch list all by myself.

DinaofCloud9 · 27/11/2021 18:00

Oh I'm glad to see this. I thought it was just me. It's really winding me up, I just end up clicking off the thread.

gamerchick · 27/11/2021 18:06

Yeah it's irritating. Does it have to come on every page on the thread?

Polkadotties · 27/11/2021 18:12

Please turn it off. Doing my head in!

StevieNicksscarf · 27/11/2021 18:15

Make it stop!!!

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 27/11/2021 19:21

Hello again - we've turned it off and will review it next week. Apols for annoying everyone.

@YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet

Genuine question, but what is there to review? It's a resounding no from everyone on the thread. Surely you can't be thinking on turning it back one again? Confused
