The trans rights thread in Talk. Why delete it, it was within guidelines and a brilliant retort to an obvious troll.

Oh no! I had just posted.
....
Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn.

cuttlefishgame · 03/11/2021 22:19

I only just got home. Trust me to have missed all the fun. Drat and double drat.

The Mole had been working very hard all the morning, spring-cleaning his little home. First with brooms, then with dusters; then on ladders and steps and chairs, with a brush and a pail of whitewash; till he had dust in his throat and eyes, and splashes of whitewash all over his black fur, and an aching back and weary arms. Spring was moving in the air above and in the earth below and around him, penetrating even his dark and lowly little house with its spirit of divine discontent and longing.

One of the loveliest openings of any children's books I know.

Oh yes.

FlibbertyGiblets · 03/11/2021 22:26

Beautiful prose. It were wasted on me when I was a nipper but my Dad rolled the words around his mouth approvingly.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 03/11/2021 22:28

Are we staging a replay?

Because I was just about to submit
millennium hand and shrimp! when the last thread went poof!

Dontstepinthecowpat · 03/11/2021 22:29

It was delicious. Like the MN of old.

Waitwhat23 · 03/11/2021 22:30

In terms of children's books, I am not in the least religious but the chapter in Pollyanna when she meets the minister in the woods and talks about the 800 'rejoicing' texts, always brings a lump to my throat. The chapter ends -

'Thus it happened that the Rev. Paul Ford's sermon the next Sunday was a veritable bugle-call to the best that was in every man and woman and child that heard it; and its text was one of Pollyanna's shining eight hundred:

"Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, ye righteous, and shout for joy all ye that are upright in heart."

Somebody went home and took their ball with them. Spoilsports.

Honestly. What did they have to do that for? It was a lovely thread!

Helleofabore · 03/11/2021 22:52

At least on that thread I knew where my towel was!

Phobiaphobic · 03/11/2021 22:53

I am so gutted I missed this. It's like everyone saw the unicorn except me. Sad

MrsOvertonsWindow · 03/11/2021 22:54

Agreed. Twas a shame MNHQ that one of you had a sense of humour bypass this evening.
That thread was whimsical and rather lovely.

I posted that there was a unicorn! And a squirrel.

They seek him here, they seek him there, that elusive sha-a-a-dow.

Whitefire · 03/11/2021 23:11

I was just getting going to Urmston with dinnerladies.

donquixotedelamancha · 03/11/2021 23:14

I've reported the OP, asking MN to reinstate the original thread. If everyone does the same MN will notice.

TrevorFountain · 04/11/2021 00:03

SolasAnla · 04/11/2021 00:13

Couldn’t we keep that troll as a pet if we promise to look after it?

*direct sunlight will kill it
*never give it water
*never ever feed it after midnight

ErrolTheDragon · 04/11/2021 00:27

Did the OP post anything other than the first post? Is it trolling to star a thread stating something you believe which nobody argues with?

Corkit · 04/11/2021 00:38

So gutted I missed it, I wasn't even doing anything interesting Sad

One other post, replying to a saying about the complexity of the universe.
DefineHappy · 04/11/2021 01:23

I am disproportionately upset that I missed it. It just confirms what a shitty day (week/year/etc) I’ve had, when I miss out on unicorns, trolls and poetry.

SunflowersInTheShade · 04/11/2021 02:23

It was barely trolling too. Really nothing to delete in it.
