Apols we're going to need to ask you to consent to cookies again...

Hi all,
Just wanted to post that this morning we're asking users to re-consent to cookies and there's nothing amiss or to worry about if and when you see a pop up message to that affect.

The reason is that we have a number of ad tech partners and when we update them (sometimes we switch them in and out particularly if they are slowing the site down or causing a poor user experience) we are legally required to push out a new consent message to all users. Sorry for the inconvenience - we promise to always try to do things in batches to keep these re-consent messages to the minimum.
Thanks for your patience!

Adding another voice to the reject all button for cookies. I’m incredulous that this is part of mumsnet given even the most unscrupulous sites don’t seem to have the plethora of tracking cookies that mumsnet seems to invite. Does mumsnet get remunerated for it?

Halsall · 23/12/2021 17:38

I just had to spend another chunk of time rejecting dozens of intrusive and unwanted cookies AGAIN.

We went through all this a year or so ago and were assured then that it would be fixed and we wouldn’t keep having to give/deny permissions. It did, in fairness, seem to be fixed but it’s creeping back, I’ve had several requests to re-do them in the last few weeks.

I personally can’t wait for the Reject All option but in the meantime I’m not at all happy that the frequency of the requests for cookie permissions is ramping up once more.

Santapankitoo · 23/12/2021 18:09

Yup .
Had to do it again too .

Memyselfandfood · 25/12/2021 19:23

Im doing this every other week. Its ridiculous

PromisesMeanNothingSue · 25/12/2021 19:58

So @JustineMumsnet what is MN doing about the fact that the site does not function at all if I don’t agree to all cookies (and plenty of other posters reporting the same thing)? Totally unethical. Angry

Memyselfandfood · 02/01/2022 03:20

@AuntieStella this is really getting ridiculous now.
This was happening to me every other week asking me to confirm my consent.
I was only asked last on the 29/12 yet surprise surprise its asked me for it once again again!

Ive accidentally clicked accept as I'm just so annoyed with it all, why is this happening?
Can you tell why this is so often? Do you really think twice in 4 days is right?
Every other week wasn’t acceptable but this?

Halsall · 02/01/2022 12:36

It flashed up again on my phone yesterday but I was asked either to ‘Confirm your choices’ or ‘Accept All’. I didn’t even get the option of any page to deny permissions this time, but the only way to get it to go away was to ‘Confirm your choices’.

As I’d previously slogged through well over 100 clicks to deny ‘legitimate interests’ I had to assume that was the right one to click. I definitely didn’t click ‘Accept All’, but I still feel suspicious about what I was confirming.

Tournaments66 · 03/01/2022 15:06

The really easy solution is to open mumsnet in a browser in "secret" mode. You can then accept the cookies for that session and then just close the window down. Then all cookies are automatically deleted.

SleepyMathematician · 04/01/2022 23:59

Just been asked to do it AGAIN, getting really fed up now. Especially as you think you’ve turned them all off and then you go into vendor chores and there are literally hundreds there all with legitimate interest all turned on, even though I turned them off only a week ago.
Techy son in law thinks this is barely legal, if at all.

Katy75 · 05/01/2022 04:45

I have just posted on another thread and adding here also. I’ve just been asked again after only 5 days. This is really not reasonable. Please can we have an update on when this will be resolved. Thanks

comeondover · 26/03/2022 09:20

Can we have an update on this situation @JustineMumsnet please? It's still happening. When's it going to go away?

Bagadverts · 28/03/2022 20:15

Very frustrated just cleared cookies to try to access a thread and had this again, made worse by the fact it hasn’t worked.
