Apols we're going to need to ask you to consent to cookies again...

Hi all,
Just wanted to post that this morning we're asking users to re-consent to cookies and there's nothing amiss or to worry about if and when you see a pop up message to that affect.

The reason is that we have a number of ad tech partners and when we update them (sometimes we switch them in and out particularly if they are slowing the site down or causing a poor user experience) we are legally required to push out a new consent message to all users. Sorry for the inconvenience - we promise to always try to do things in batches to keep these re-consent messages to the minimum.
Thanks for your patience!

@BoreOfWhabylon

Will this cause Premium users to start seeing ads again *@JustineMumsnet*? It did last time and I can't remember what we had to do to get rid of them.
Thanks - we've checked and all appears to be fine with Premium but of course do let us know if you start seeing ads!

@ColinTheKoala

You are not legally required to push out another message.

Quite the opposite - if I've declined, I've declined. You don't get to keep trying!

And legitimate interest isn't consent. Why do I get asked about that?

Hi there - I'm afraid it's a limitation of our consent management provider (Google) that we require all users to re-consent - there's no way of excluding anyone. We are currently exploring new providers because there are quite a few limitations with Google's system (funding choices) and are aiming to introduce a new one in place when we replatform Talk in the new year. Many thanks for your patience in the meantime.

@AuntieStella

It took 162 keystrokes to deny all permissions.

That's really Not On.

There was discussion on the last thread about having an effective 'reject all' option.

You really should look in to that.

Agreed. We've spent the last few months investigating other consent management platforms to give you the option to do this. We're confident that we've found one now and we'll be making this change as part of our move to our updated Talk platform in the New Year. At that point you'll be able to just click one button to reject all cookies. Meantime thanks for your patience on this.
