My phone is on silent, I'm scrolling through MN and twice now (last night and today) music blares out saying 'there's a dog in the house' no video and no way on page to stop it. Plus it is overriding my phone as everything is on silent. What is it @MNHQ ? Using browser on Android phone

Hi @Nearlyme just dropping in to say that we haven't received any similar reports, but will take a look and see if we can get to the bottom of this for you.

Please can you try closing everything down in the chrome browser and also turning your phone off and on again to clear it?

Also, does the same issue happen if you use a different browser? Flowers

BuffyTheBuffetSlayer · 18/09/2021 23:49

@soniamumsnet happened to me twice tonight!! There was no advert video visable on my screen, just posts then suddenly booming loud music started playing. When scrolled back up the ad box was completely black, no actual video showing, but blasting music!!?? I also just read a recent post by yet another person experiencing noise blasting from adverts so it's clearly an advert issue.

Nearlyme · 19/09/2021 00:17

Thank you Buffy thought I was imagining it. It scared me half to death when my phone was on silent

Me too, just finished watching a film so sat in the dark with the tv volume low then nearly shit myself it was that loud 😅 Hopefully now MN have been made aware it isn't an isolated incident they'll look into getting it fixed.

I had something like this last week: every time I opened up the MN app, music started playing Confused The only way I could stop it was by shutting the app Shock

prettybird · 19/09/2021 09:43

Didn't recognise the music though Grin

@MNHQ @soniamumsnet

I'm using chrome and it's doing it again. I've cleared all cookies etc you can see from screenshot that my phone is on silent but it still plays very loudly 'there's a dog in the house'

I've also had this tonight

VikingNorthUtsire · 19/09/2021 23:00

Sorry should have said I am on a Google phone and viewing MN via the chrome app

Catawaul · 20/09/2021 06:32

This just happened to me, scared the life out of me. Not a great start to my week! I'm using chrome.

This is happening to me too on chrome, pretty unusable if we can't browse silently.

Smidge001 · 20/09/2021 08:09

I had this happen too (well, I don't remember whether the words were about a dog in the house, but it was loud blaring music coming from nowhere when my phone was on silent / only 1 bar of volume)
Mine's an android phone and I just use the website, not an app.

MissTheobald · 20/09/2021 09:01

This has just happened to me. I'm on an android phone. Very annoying.

In fact just as described by this poster.

Hi all

Thanks so much for all of the information - we are still investigating this. Can you keep us updated when this happens, and let us know where abouts on the site you are? Flowers

soniamumsnet · 22/09/2021 12:14

Hi @MedusasBadHairDay @StarryStarrySocks just dropping in to say that we're looking into this now, and will keep you posted. Flowers

VikingNorthUtsire · 22/09/2021 21:41

Just had this play again. I was on the Bridezilla Dressing Gown thread (www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4354541-To-not-want-to-buy-a-bloody-dressing-gown?utm_source=newsletter_daily&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=22/09/2021&utm_term=%22AIBU+to+not+want+to+buy+a+bloody+dressing+gown%3F%22) having clicked through from the Mumsnet Daily email as you can see from the URL.

I think it started playing when I had scrolled down as far as the second ad slot on the page. The top two adverts were for eBay - seemed to be static, not videos.

The third ad slot, which I had to scroll down to, showed as below. It looks like it should have been playing the Paw Patrol video, but that wasn't playing - the screen was black. When the Dog song finished, the Paw Patrol video started to play.

This is beginning to really take the piss. Reading property and DIY and the bloody music (jazz) like and the dog in the house words start blasting out . My phone is on silent, silent because I can't have it making noise.
Please sort this out.

And again (I have done other things in between posts!)

Attached screenshot of the video that was playing (and is muted as shown in pic) but still the bloody dog in the house music. Come on @soniamumsnet @LilyMumsnet @MNHQ
