Would it be feasible to have a <board name> : All view?

This suggestion arises out of the feminism boards rearrangement - some people like two boards but many want to see all feminist threads at once. I think this would better accommodate all users and reduce some of the discontent.

I believe it might be useful elsewhere, eg Education. Most parents are interested in the stages their DC are at, others may be interested in all of them.

Another possibility (though i'd guess would take quite a bit more to implement) would be if we could have a 'favourites' view so that we could see all threads in our favourite topics at once - mine would include both feminism boards, gardening and HE at the moment,

Starting a thread while in a non-specific view should be fine, just fill in the topic title as happens already if you start a new thread while in active or threads I'm on etc.

If this is technically feasible, I can't see any downside.

Well, I feel really unwelcome on 'feminist chat', now, it has been made pretty clear by several other posters that I'm to stay out of 'their' space.

I am less likely to post there, and don't want any of my threads moved onto a board where I'm likely to get attacked for even being there.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/06/2021 12:23

You should report such posts, Arabella. They're not 'in the spirit'. Whether they're deleted or the poster gets ticked off or not, it shows that this split doesn't solve all the perceived problems.

I'd hope posts on Site Stuff threads are all read, but in general if we don't report problems when we see them, we have to assume MNHQ doesn't know about them. Sticking @MNHQ into a post, afaik, does nothing.

Completely ignoring the FWR sitch, this would be very helpful for health and disability things. Frequently it isn't entirely clear which area would be best to post in, and posts get missed.

Say for eg my periods have stopped, and I have an autoimmune condition - do I post in the quieter women's health section, busiest general health, menopause, or autoimmune illness? Being able to see multiple sections that are relevant to you means someone may see your post who otherwise would miss it.

Maybe, Errol, but I am really averse to reporting. I do strongly believe people have the right to say what they think, even if it's rude or unpleasant or upsetting.

I report posts when I think someone is vulnerable, that's about it, really.

I've not seen the threads you're talking about (have been avoiding ones I anticipate will exhaust me at the moment! ) but reporting just draws MNHQ's attention to a post - you can outline in your email report what your question/ issue is.
Confirming that tagging @mnhq doesn't do anything - best options are starting threads in Site Stuff, tagging a specific mod, reporting a post or emailing the general "contact us" address.
