Why is the search on mumsnet so crap?

I've put those exact words in and just random stuff comes up. Has happened loads, seems to ignore the obvious!

Although I couldn't bloody figure out how to remove the duplicate pic!

You search something that you know you’ve written in that day, but ever else comes up at the top, from days before. Madness. And when will you give us a like button ?

If it's something from a specific date then using the search dates from and to function should narrow it down

They should add a search for specific words or sentence function so if you put quotation marks around it it returns only those exact words.

I've noticed this for years. It's not great.

It seems to specialise in Chat threads from 2016 which can't be read.

Yes this has always annoyed me every time I've ever tried to search anything you just get totally random results and most you can't even see when you click on it as the thread doesn't exist anymore because it's on chat etc 😐

Hi all, Yes sorry, we're a bit crap when it comes to search. The best search to use if you're looking for recent threads is the "advanced search" on the web version here That lets you search just in thread titles, restrict by dates etc. BUT it's not available on the app.

There is a project going on to fix search "properly" but it'll be a while before it's ready. Apologies. There's a lot going on here all at once.
