Can't start a thread using a Namechange

I have tried a few times to start threads with a different username. I have no problem replying in thread with old usernames, but can't seem to start one. I just don't want said thread linked to ongoing posting thats all.

It tells me I need a valid username to post but it is a valid username I am trying to post with

Afternoon, @EineReiseDurchDieZeit. Sorry to hear you're having problems. You'll need to be using the desktop site rather than the mobile one in order to change your username and start a new thread - which site are you using?
