A suggestion re thread pinning

GothicCandles · 30/10/2007 20:50

How about making it possible for us (via customise active convos) to pin a limited number of threads ourselves? And Mumsnet Towers would only pin threads that you considered of general importance, without necessarily allowing us to be able to unpin those threads, so that important info could be broadcast.

Also, could we have a line under, or box around, pinned threads? Just to visualy separate them so that it is easier to keep an eye on what's happening at the real top of active convos.

I think that pinning icon is too large

It makes the line spacing of the top pinned threads larger than the line spacing of the "normal" threads, so it looks a bit crappy

nappyaddict · 30/10/2007 21:15

surely that's what threads i'm watching is for?

JustscreamMumsnet · 30/10/2007 21:24

We agree the icon's a bit rubbish - anyone any inspiration? Come on MP you're good at this kind of stuff are you not?

LIZS · 30/10/2007 21:24

I mentioned some sort of visual break between the pinned and activoe threads list on the main Tech thread. Wider gap , broken line whatever

morningpaper · 30/10/2007 21:34

What hmm I think the icon is ok, it just needs to be smaller I think

JustscreamMumsnet · 30/10/2007 21:38

I think we could do better though as well as smaller... Help!

morningpaper · 30/10/2007 21:41

You could just use that M icon that's at the top in the Title bar

morningpaper · 30/10/2007 21:41

What about a pin in the shape of a tiny BREAST?

JustscreamMumsnet · 30/10/2007 21:42

you mean a nipple?

morningpaper · 30/10/2007 21:45

SNORT I don't know

We have some graphic designers here, can't they mock one up?

What about a tiny mooncup?

JustscreamMumsnet · 30/10/2007 21:46

Next!

JustscreamMumsnet · 30/10/2007 21:49

Actually the Mumsnet icon's not a bad idea is it... though suspect some will think it a bit "grey" [sigh].

morningpaper · 30/10/2007 21:50

yes it IS a bit gray

You could change the colour?

BeetrootMNRoyalty · 30/10/2007 21:51

heavens are you suggesting hundreds of pinned stuff?

JustscreamMumsnet · 30/10/2007 21:51

thousands!

Twiglett · 30/10/2007 21:51

how about the head of John the Baptist .. on a nice plate

BeetrootMNRoyalty · 30/10/2007 21:52

how about NONE

We have never had them before why do we need them now?

Twiglett · 30/10/2007 21:53

yeah and the ignore thread pinning doesn't work properly they still pop up every time you go to active conversations unless you refresh again .. and the site is so slow loading at the moment I'm loathe to refresh anything

HunkOLantern · 30/10/2007 21:54

I posted on the proper thread, but you're all ignoring me (except RB who has a brian, it seems and suggested a snowflake and some other clever things).

"Can't you change it for the seasons?

So a pumpkin for October, a firework for November, a bit of holly for December, fresh out of ideas for January, but somebody else has a brian they're not using and can lend it you, I'm sure?"

(I think Tech must be a bit bored now he's finished rolling out new MN, that's all)

BeetrootMNRoyalty · 30/10/2007 21:54

It doeds not work forme either Twigg I can still see the bloody book club and charity christmas thing -

BeetrootMNRoyalty · 30/10/2007 21:55

Happy Birthday Beetroot for Januaty

LIZS · 30/10/2007 21:59

HunkOLantern · 30/10/2007 22:05

Happy birthday Beety for January. When is your birthday? I think I was trying to have DS2 on it, iirc. He's the 18th.

morningpaper · 30/10/2007 22:26

I've put a mock up of appropriate icons on my profile

apologies for pictures of penises which relate to another thread

JustscreamMumsnet · 30/10/2007 22:27

Forgive me but that looks like a toilet plunger to me...
