So that all the Grammar pedants can sit in there and simmer at the rest of the board's incompetence quietly and without disturbing the rest of us.

i'm glad you asked me that question as my dad used to say

pointydog · 10/10/2007 19:15

yeah, a grammar room with a lock on the outside only

VeniVidiVickiQV · 10/10/2007 20:36

We already have "Quote of the Week", we could have "Grammar fuck up of The Week".

Or Top Grammar Spotter of the Week.

Tell me all about the subjunctive......

VeniVidiVickiQV · 10/10/2007 21:59

Oh I find this idea really exciting. I did actually look for the Senora to solve a grammar dilemma for me recently but she weren't there.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 10/10/2007 22:19

You could preside over it policy

Am strangely drawn to this (as yet inexistent) room, though I know that, once in, I may never re-emerge into the light of day. Senora, Policy, Pruners... if you see me in there please administer a sharp blow to the back of the head with the MHRA style handbook. It is important that you be cruel to be kind on this matter.

policywonk · 11/10/2007 13:46

Oh God no, I cannot preside. I have trouble with 'which' and 'that', which even the Senora's restrictive-and-non-restrictive-clauses explanation has not resolved. I would be prepared to be Treasurer or something though, and also to thump Ellbell over the head (but I only use Hart's Rules).

claricebeansmum · 11/10/2007 13:50

Can I join too, please?

Do we just sit here and flag up what we have spotted on other discussions and moan together?

No formal grammar background but educated to A level in English and Latin. Do I qualify?

UnquietDad · 11/10/2007 13:51

Is there also to be a Secondary Modern Room and a Comprehensive Room?

WaynettaVonBlood · 11/10/2007 13:53

PMSL UD!!!

edam · 11/10/2007 18:33

sorry VVQ, got side-tracked. Thread was entitled 'rip someone's name' so it sounded as if their first name was Rip.

EllHell · 12/10/2007 12:19

Thanks policywonk.
