Hiding whole topics

Is there a way to hide whole threads? I keep hiding individual coronavirus threads but there are so so many I can't get rid of them all.

What the fuck has happened to Mnet!!! It's nuts a very strange site at the moment.

Thanks everyone for your help. Like others I wish all CV topics were kept in that topic out the trending feed.

As a side note, I was app-only for a few days and was feeling anxious and stressed by the overwhelming number of identikit, panicky, end-of-days tone to every post I clicked on (thread titles didn't alert me).

But it wasn't till I got on the desktop site and hid the topic, that I realised that what the feeling was, as it abated.

I don't have any MH issues or anxiety worries. So if it did that to me in less than a week, what the hell is is doing to people who do suffer the aforementioned issues?

I think a lot of people like the sound of their own voice so much they just have to have their say, even when they only thing they can think of to say is subjective, ignorant, alarmist claptrap.

@buzzshitbagbobbly totally agree. It is actually making me anxious to see the number or entirely samey threads peppered throughout the site on different boards

Can MNHQ come on and comment on being able to move the posts quicker or automatically?

Afternoon, everyone.

We totally understand folk may feel anxious seeing so many threads discussing coronavirus dotted around the site. We try our best to move them to the dedicated topic, as swiftly as possible, if we feel they're best placed there.

That said, as you know, we're not a pre-moderated site and rely on reports from MNers so it may be that we sometimes miss certain threads if they're not reported to us.

Also worth bearing in mind is that, on occasion, we feel that a thread discussing certain aspects of coronavirus is best suited to the original topic it's been posted in. So a thread discussing cases in Scotland is probably best left in our Scotland topic and one discussing sick pay in the current situation may be more appropriate left in the Work topic. We treat each thread on a case by case basis though so nothing is cut and dried. This is an ever changing situation after all.

Hope that clears things up a little but give us a shout if you have any more questions. Flowers

I don't entirely agree, but it's your ball, your rules Wink

As a compromise, would it be possible for you to add a warning to the title of those threads in specific topics, if they won't be moved?

A simple "(CV-related)" at the start would be enough to warn unsuspecting MNers from wandering onto yet another stealth covid thread.

Thanks for the idea, BuzzShitbagBobbly, we'll flag it up here at MNHQ and let you know the consensus. Smile

Managed it, after a bit of fiddling around. Thank god for that - the index is looking normal again !
