I'm surprised that there hasn't been any information about why the site was so comprehensively down this morning for quite a long time.

Poor customer service? Get a grip - it's a free to use platform, they owe you nothing.

MrMeSeeks · 16/05/2019 13:46

I also worry

MrMeSeeks · 16/05/2019 13:47

Also thought it was bad form to not have a notice on any site regarding that there was issues

DontCallMeShitley · 16/05/2019 14:35

Bad form, yes. But posting on here makes what we write fair game to anyone that reads it. It gives us no rights as we are not paying for a service. People forget that it is a public platform which is free to use, not a paid subscription to a private forum.

Advertising is what keeps the site going, and keeps it free for us to use. If there was a subscription being paid there would be a need for 'customer service'.

I prefer it the way it is, much as I hate those intrusive and constantly moving ads. I don't pay for the site, I am not a shareholder, I have no right to expect customer service. I would appreciate a heads up that I might be about to get hacked again though.

DontCallMeShitley · 16/05/2019 14:36

BTW, this thread wouldn't load for ages Smile

bellinisurge · 16/05/2019 14:39

Ha! I had assumed it was an IT problem here. We've had a few.

If they didn't have any users, nobody would want to advertise on the site.

DontCallMeShitley · 16/05/2019 15:35

And if there was a subscription, possibly there would be less people using it, however if we paid to use it then we would have the right to expect customer service. This isn't a case of customer service really though, it is a case of not being told why the site was down, which may have been due to security issues, or a server problem which has been rumbling along for a few days now and has been mentioned in site stuff.

People have left due to security issues though, which perhaps were being worked on this time rather than posting to let anyone know.

If people flounce and go elsewhere, this site will still be here.

It's still happening! Slow to load, not loading, gateway errors, completely down. What is going on MNHQ? Can we have an update please?

RedRiverShore · 17/05/2019 09:19

It's happening still I am on the app now. On safari I get a black page and safari cannot open the page. Error domain 100

I tried to add a photo but that didn't seem to work though that is probably me as I never use the app as I don't really like it.

RedRiverShore · 17/05/2019 09:24

Here is the photo, Safari back now

So what did happen to MN this morning?
RedRiverShore · 17/05/2019 09:38

Has anyone else got the above as it may be just me but I don't want to fiddle too much with any safari settings if it is a MN error

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/05/2019 09:39

just now

Apologies - the site was intermittently offline earlier (and went offline again just now). We're investigating at the mo.

LoafofSellotape · 17/05/2019 09:42

Happening this morning too, says the site is down then I click again and all is working again🙄

LoafofSellotape · 17/05/2019 09:42

Oops cross posted

AnyaMumsnet · 17/05/2019 09:43

HI again all,

We're really sorry, there have been a few issues this morning - this isn't a single issue, but more general site optimisation that needs to be done.

There will be ongoing work for the next week or two so you might experience some issues, and we'll keep you updated as we get more information.

RedToothBrush · 17/05/2019 10:17

I've had time outs intermittantly since Tuesday. They started around 10pm with a 503 error. Same thing on Wednesday night. The site was completely inaccessable from about midnight until 4am (when I fell asleep) - this time with no error message just it wouldn't load. And then again this morning.

There's definitely been an ongoing issue all week.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/05/2019 12:46

Thanks for the update :)

It's happened again this morning, in case you'd not noticed all the other threads talking about it!

Nanny0gg · 18/05/2019 08:35

Might be an idea to post updates elsewhere too MN!

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 18/05/2019 09:25

Happened again this morning MN. What's going on? Is it going to go off again in a few minutes?

Persimmonn · 18/05/2019 09:40

Yeah, happened on and off at exactly 3:43 this morning then came back a few mins later.

MrMeSeeks · 18/05/2019 10:10

It would be good for them to let us know considering the breaches they’ve had Hmm
People automatically worry it’s another one...
