Can we please have a 'view' counter

So if we look at a thread, we know how many times it has been read. It would be great for us nosy people, and would also stop boring posts.
I mean if I posted one that had 36 views, and no replies, I'd realise it's not worth bringing up again, and so post something dazzling next time.

Definitely don't show who's online and what they're viewing! I like my anonymity.

Be quite curious though to know how many were viewing/posting at any given moment.

No no no signatures and all that tosh.
Just, say a small counter in the corner that shows how many times a thread has been read.
We all kicked off when the report post was introduced but have grown to love it, non!?
