Can we please have a 'view' counter

So if we look at a thread, we know how many times it has been read. It would be great for us nosy people, and would also stop boring posts.
I mean if I posted one that had 36 views, and no replies, I'd realise it's not worth bringing up again, and so post something dazzling next time.

good idea!!!
Also would show what threads/topics are most popular with lurkers!

JodieG1 · 13/06/2007 14:06

I'd also like to see who's online like other places do and what they're viewing.

expatinscotland · 13/06/2007 14:08

NO, PLEASE!

This is an old chesnut.

No view counters, no 'time logged in, tickers, avatars, signatures, etc.

JodieG1 · 13/06/2007 14:10

I like the way the overclockers forums look but they're not baby related.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 13/06/2007 14:10

no no no , definitly no tickers or who is online etc.
But a thread counter might be good. For example, a health issue. I often read them and hope someone with more knowledge might post, so I shouldn't bother, but if I saw noone at all had read it then I would give my 2p

No counters, views etc. Please .

JodieG1 · 13/06/2007 14:11

Views show how many people can't be arsed to reply lol

Tortington · 13/06/2007 14:11

i want a smiley that does a "v" sign. would save many words.

Boco · 13/06/2007 14:12

But surely it wouldn't actually mean anything. If you check your own thread 100 times, it'll show up as 100 views, but they're all you! You won't know if its the same couple of people or different each time. What's the point?

expatinscotland · 13/06/2007 14:12

I second that, Idris

good idea

maybe

but then if I did a thread and noone replied (as IF!!) but had 208 views, I would sob and think everyone looked, went BORRRRRRRRING and toddled off somewhere more exciting

iyswim

expatinscotland · 13/06/2007 14:12

I want one of those smileys that then turns and vomits.

Not all sigs are like that, those on the forum I mentioned are a display of talent and pc skills.

IdrisTheDragon · 13/06/2007 14:14

And the thought of knowing that 73 million people had read my thread and then thought....nah.....won't reply would be crushing for my self-esteem.

As would knowing that 3 people had read it .

oliveoil · 13/06/2007 14:15

I want a smiley that bangs its head on the desk

expatinscotland · 13/06/2007 14:15

Sigs make me want to hurl.

Really, this is an old chesnut.

ThomCat · 13/06/2007 14:15

I'd like to see 'views' and I'd also like to see who the orignal poster was.

So it would have thread title - poster, last person who posted name, views and actual reply count.

I want a smiley with a bubble coming out of its mouth that reads, 'FRAEKS!'

Sigs do help remember people though and also i don't like normal sigs but the ones on overclockers are people designing their own not using ticker sites. They also have the option of turning them off so you can't see any.

littlepicklesmum · 13/06/2007 14:19

I'd get a complex if I saw how many people read a thread and not replied! Hard enough to get answered at times! Let alone having your nose rubbed in it!

Tortington · 13/06/2007 14:20

\linl{http://www.belenus.co.uk/emotipadplus/v-sign.gif\ i want this please}
