User name confusion..

There is now a poster using the name @BertrandRusselI- which is a bit confusing. Is that OK? I think I had the name first (aware that sounds a bit playgroundy) and I might be confusing.

I’ve bumped into other Sauvignons too, it was very confusing as they were talking shite.

Have you asked them to name change?

I noticed someone else posing as LynetteScavo(and then some numbers) and just nicely PMed them and asked them not to.

Do you think it is the same weirdo person who keeps changing their name to copy others? If so MNHQ must be able to track them down.

I had a d0ppleganger once but that was just another TP fan who graciously found another name when I pointed out swamp dragons destroy their reflections.

Glad I saw this, will check which Bertrand is posting from now on.

no Real the other BR is BertrandRusselI -so the last l is actually a capital i (I) rather than - (l) a teensy bit shorter.

If you hover the cursor over the other BR's name on her posts, it shows very clearly that the last letter is a capital I.

I’ve noticed a poster with a similar username to mine but it’s no bother, we don’t post on the same boards so it’s not an issue, I just thought ‘ah, another Ashens fan’

I can see how it would be though and yours looks to be deliberately trying to impersonate you by using the capital ‘i’ - I’ve seen a few samey usernames where one has either a 1 or the year after the name which I’d think was more acceptable.

She hasn’t posted since I @ed her, so presumably she’s had her fun. Bit of an odd way to have it,though!

Maybe that's just using browser. In the app, I'm darned if I can see any difference at all between l and I (IlIl ...that should be alternating .. bad font design, apple!)

Or maybe, rather, not the best choice my MNHQ? It's a clear enough font in other ways, it's a shame the lower case L doesn't have a bit of a 'tail' like the t does to distinguish it.

I can't see any difference either. But it comes up as a different person in AS-so the sharper eyed amongst us are right.

Hmm, I typed my earlier post on laptop and there is a difference but now viewing on phone it does look the same and makes me look like a dingbat but I promise there really was a difference!

You can’t blame Apple! I can see the difference - one is shorter than the other.

I can just see the difference in the browser if I'm looking for it. I did the advanced search too, lots of posts from the imposter in the last few days.

It could be innocent, they may have realised on a thread where you coexisted and changed name by now.

I picked a new username and nc recently and a couple of days later I realised that it was almost identical to someone else's. Sheer coincidence, but I nc again straight away.

This one, however, seems too close for comfort.

It could be innocent. Someone totally new to forums and now they’ve realised their mistake they’ve changed.

I wouldn’t have known right away that close sounding or looking user names where not allowed.

Just like picking an e-mail address. If [email protected] wasn’t available I might try [email protected].

They may have changed names but they’re still able to change back and try to cause trouble, if they’re that way inclined.

Hopefully that won’t happen but it is a possibility, and the fact they haven’t responded to the ‘@‘ makes it seem to me that that was the plan in the first place!
