Vomiting in babies advice

I was reading www.mumsnet.com/babies/vomiting and believe that there are several key things missed out:

  1. Over feeding a baby. Certainly from a BF perspective, if you have over supply you can over feed and this can cause projectile vomiting. I took advice from BF lactation consultants and Kellymom website. I would have thought this is far more common than pyloric stenosis (I have never heard of this), but definitely common.
  1. Some reference and detail on how sickness can be linked to not sterilising correctly, making formula incorrectly etc Putting too much formula into the bottom can cause sickness, and bacteria from bottles and dummies can also cause sickness. This is only covered in the gastrointestinal bit.

I like that this page is here as my experience is that parents do worry about sickness. I think we’ve missed a trick with some of the key reasons. I’ve shared that over supply / let down link from Kellymom several times over with friends / bf support groups and is very much a “a ha” moment for people or “gosh my baby did that, she was always throwing up loads”.
