AIBU to ask MNHQ to get rid of that bloody advert?

So annoying! It's flashed up five times since I started this. And deleted a post I was writing elsewhere. Please make it stop!

It's Google I think ... And I'm on the mobile site on an iphone.

Hi Angie

No problem. I'm in SEO, I read that article shortly before reading this thread & just wondered if your team had seen it.

Google do tend to have a habit of springing stuff on people...

DartmoorDoughnut · 18/02/2018 07:13

This keeps happening to me! I’ll screenshot when it happens next

Sarsparella · 18/02/2018 07:16

Yes I kept getting this yesterday too! If it happens again I’ll screen shot it, I don’t think it really is google, I think it’s dodgy but it’s only happening to me on MN

BetterEatCheese · 18/02/2018 07:17

I have the app on iPhone and I don't see any ads at all

I’ve posted a screenshot on the thread about winning an iPhone (also in site stuff). Here it’s is again.

This keeps happening to me, that exact pop up 🙄🙄

KatieMoragsMum · 18/02/2018 07:41

Me too - the “Congratulations you’ve won.... “ blah blah blah.
Only when I’m on MN though, so I don’t think it’s a virus thing on my phone. Or could it be? I don’t know. I am not knowledgeable about tech stuff, could pressing the cancel button on the ad be risky? I just quit the whole browser. Annoying.

Pleasebeafleabite · 18/02/2018 07:41

Me too on iphone! I upgraded to latest ios last night but it was still there this morning

Ohhhh I probably should have scrubbed my IP

Sarsparella · 18/02/2018 07:45

On my iPhone too, isn’t happening on any other site and my software is up to date so I think it’s MN rather than a problem with my phone

Shoppingwithmother · 18/02/2018 09:12

I’m getting this too - just had it 3x in 2 mins. It’s one of those really annoying ones where you can’t do anything to get rid of it - there is a close button, but when you touch it, it takes you to the website anyway.

Like others have said, it’s happening on my iPhone, and only on Mumsnet.

Also, like others have said, I am sick of the proper adverts too, sick of that stupid Barbie woman at the top of my screen for weeks, and the ones in the middle of the threads. I’m not usually logged in on my phone, but have been this week, and between the Mumsnet toolbar at the bottom, the ad at the top, and the extra middle of thread ones, I can barely see anything - it’s really spoiling Mumsnet for me.

Happened again!!

I use the App on my iPad and have it open on Talk. Don't see any adverts at all.

fromwesttoeast · 18/02/2018 16:41

It happened to me while I was reading this thread....

LornaMumsnet · 19/02/2018 10:31

Hi folks,

Adops are working really hard to get to the bottom of the popup issue. It's taking a little longer than we'd originally hoped for but we really do appreciate you hanging in there.

Please do continue to bear with us - we'll try and update ASAP.

LizzieMumsnet · 19/02/2018 11:37

Hi All,

We are really sorry this issue continues to persist, we have been investigating with our partners and it seems that whatever was causing this issue last week has managed to cache itself in your phone's memory - can we please request you clear your cache and let us know if this fixes the popup from appearing.

To clear your cache for safari browsers you simply need to go into your settings, click on safari and clear history and website data.

Please let us know if this does the trick?

DartmoorDoughnut · 19/02/2018 19:38

@LizzieMumsnet that seems to have solved the problem here, thanks Flowers

LornaMumsnet · 20/02/2018 11:16

Hi folks,

Do run over to this thread if you're having any further issues with pop ups. You'll also find a handy link on how to clear your cache.
