We did consider whether or not to allow this campaign and thought it ok on balance - they are not on our banned advertiser list - do you think they should be?
JustineMumsnet · 23/04/2007 17:57
Well the truth is we ask because a) we don't want to upset or alienate folks b) though we are a business and hoping to be a profitable one, we also genuinely wish to be an "ethical" business and sometimes we are genuinely in two minds about advertisers. A good debate often clarifies both of these issues for us as it has in the past with formula milk.
Currently we don't allow ads for formula milk, Nestle, Macdonalds, plastic surgery types, political parties, porn sites and a few red-top newspapers. If you think there's any we should add to that list let us know who and why.
Best, MNHQ

Twiglett such cynicism in one so young.

Yes you're right Notanotter - it was the Sun one that led to new policy and the Macdonalds one was an error (essentially our agency fills our spare space with run of site ads and Macdonalds inadvertently crept into the mix - they have the banned list - was an error)
