Changes to "Threads I'm On" - don't like them ...

LurkingHusband · 15/08/2017 13:51

Have noticed that the list of last 5 posts is now missing the time/date.

So there's no way of telling whether they were posted in the last 5 minutes, or (with all the zombie threads being revived) the last 5 years.

Have MNHQ heard of A/B testing ?

I'm only on a few threads I think. Need to test it again.

TheDrsDocMartens · 29/08/2017 17:59

Nope only the topics I follow are on TIO Angry

Just to let you know that we've flagged this up to Tech again. Thanks for being so patient.

Mine seems to be working now.
Thank you.

LurkingHusband · 02/09/2017 17:06

Why is it only showing 50 threads too? TIO and TIW used to show more than 50 threads so why reduce it?

The reason I read a while back was that page loading times were getting too slow. Seems the "fix" has been to restrict the amount of data returned (rather than work on why it was being returned in such an inefficient way).

Not the way I would have done it if I was being paid for it, but hey ho.

That sucks Lurking - I had a number of threads that were old (call them zombies but ones that hadn't been posted on) that I kept as watched threads so that I could, if I wanted to, go back and read them. These have gone now from my TIW list and I'm not happy

My grumble - first world problem that it is -n is that previously, you could immediately see how busy a thread had been by the spacing of the last 5 or so replies.

Now, you just get the last posting timestamp, and you have to see if you recognise any of the postings previously from reading them, rather than the timestamps.

I suspect a vast majority of MNetters are using "the app" on a mobile device, and dinosaurs like me using the website are in the minority.

The reason I like MN is that it's core demographic is real people, unlike the science/tech forums I use professionally ... but that means it's generally very old-stylee.

I also use the website more than the app so I'm an old-schooler too Grin
