I'd like to chat about the convenience of your deletion policy to rewrite history MNHQ

Convenient deletions so that your own posts go too that's becoming common practise too. After NYE you probably mised not to do that or edit retrospectively as you agreed it was unprofessional.

Yet again we are seeing cases where one member of HQ states something then another comes and contradicts it. Are you not a little embarrassed about how incompetent you look of late?

Hopefully your advertisers aren't looking to hard at the site at present? Or is that why you don't want them to see you struggling?

Even your deletion messages have no resemblance to the context of the thread? I think the majority of incorrect speculation falls at HQs feet on the whole. Rather than site users.

Exactly, child. If they'd said what eye said they wouldn't have this problem now.

sobeyondthehills · 08/08/2017 00:12

Yes its a good reminded that people are not who they say but that is not why members are angry.

They are angry because they pointed these threads out in April, when they first started, and reported and reported, when mentioning on the thread that this person might be not be all they say, they were met with a shitstorm, which made others, such as myself, not want to keep pointing out things were not adding up. Then when MN's put up a message and moved the just giving page to the charity board and more or less said that they had validated who a certain poster was, that gave it a sense of right people are being dickheads.

The people that gave their time or money should not be blamed, alot of them on this thread and others are on those boards because they have personal experience, I assume for some of those posters it was probably recent, making them the perfect target for a scam.

I will say a few posters might have more responsibiliy than all the rest for also giving the suggestion that all was alright. But the fact is, it came across as clear that MNs seemed to have said we have additional checks on this person and it all checks out and now seem to be saying its all those posters fault.

Things have changed on MNs and as a business, its main role is to make money, however they make money off its users, and this has bought to light certain things that have failed to protect the more vulnerable members.

I personally think it needs to be clear on all boards, that at any point your thread could be lifted and used in the national press and at worse this place is not a community like it use to be.

I used to feel sick when I spotted her as I knew previously affected people would spot her too, call her out and then well meaning but newer posters would defend her and call her them sorts Sad. But at least MNHQ took notice when you said it was her and acted more quickly and decisively back then.

BicycleMadeForTwo · 08/08/2017 07:16

I wonder if there will be any comment made today?

HoneyDragon · 08/08/2017 08:53

I rather hope not actually. Enough posters have commented that they've noticed the change across threads and boards that shows it's not the users it's the admin.

Not even posters that like to play devils adovocate to be goady have bothered to post ( which is fine if that floats their boat) so that indicates to me that MNHQ are floundering. Hopefully they'll get round to reading this and see that at present users are capable of having a much much more measured conversation than they are, and quietly take that on board.

I've been on holiday for a week - is this all related to the guy whose wife was dying? If so, I honestly thought Hmm when I read the very first post about this, which isn't like me - I always get taken in! Then when it continued and MN posted too, everything seemed to be above board and people seemed to know the person in question so I assumed it was all true.

If it isn't about that particular thread, apologies!

SerfTerf · 08/08/2017 11:14

We're not allowed to say Roomba

HoneyDragon · 08/08/2017 11:24

Roomba.... that's certainly one of many threads that have highlighted some major failings of late in MnHQs deletion policies and subsequent communications this year. But if folk discuss it in depth on this thread I'm afraid I will have to lightly concuss you into submission by clunking you on the head with sock full angry weasels.

Roomba 👍

GreengageJam · 08/08/2017 13:25

I've been on mn for years (regular namechanger) and it has been feeling like less and less of a community.

In part I think that's an inevitable consequence of the site becoming so much better known and larger. But mnhq have a significant responsibility here too I think - they seem unable or unwilling to engage with posters any more. I think that one of the starkest examples of this is that they now don't respond to a report.

So I guess it doesn't feel like so much of a shock that they have failed to constructively respond to mnetters concerns lately, and that their attitude is more and more one of censorship and damage control. Why not have a live chat with Justine? Let mnetters ask you questions live and uncensored, and let people raise the concerns that they have without fear of being banned.

It's a free website. If you don't like the way it's run then don't use it? Or start your own?

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 08/08/2017 13:58

It's not really free is it... We have to sit through a bombardment of advertising and autoplaying videos.

WetsTheFinger · 08/08/2017 13:59

You don't have to...

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 08/08/2017 14:00

No we don't we can chose to install an ad blocker.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 08/08/2017 14:00

But we like paying for the site by watching advertisments.

Well if I could have a quid for every time someone trots that line out without RTFT or even the actual op I could buy Facebook Grin

The point is it is not currently running, it is current somewhat arse about tit. And people are noticing.

As a long term advocate of SUPPORTING MNHQ and making that abundantly clear in posts as have others I feel it's ok to try and get them to address the current FURBAR that is apparently in place.

But your contribution has been duly noted. Thank you.

Oh and technically this is my website. My hard won crown remains uncontested since 2011. And as I had to BBQ a dog to get it I'm not giving it up easily so ya boo sucks.

Yes and them ignoring and deny it isn't going to fix anything.

Christinayangstwistedsista · 08/08/2017 14:42

Not going to say anything about " the thread that cannot be name" except to say that I spent some time, after MNHQ validated it, berating myself for being a cynical arsehole. Pleased to know that I am just an arsehole and not cynical

Lynnm63 · 08/08/2017 14:46

⬆️ This, exactly

HoneyDragon · 08/08/2017 14:48

See my moderating my threads work. Perhaps Mnet need weasel socks?

OP posts:
Christinayangstwistedsista · 08/08/2017 14:53

Shall we start a Just giving page for weasel socks?
