do you know, I can't think of a single nice ham shop in our town? AND it's poncey as anything our town...we have to go to Twatrose for nice ham....
There's a really good proper butcher's shop or two, but dunno if they do yer actuAl Nice Ham. There must be one. I shall worry about this all night now.

Can you class Tesco's Yorkshire Ham as nice ham?

We have lots of Ye Olde sweetie shops and market stalls though.

CODalmighty · 23/03/2007 18:38

prepakced or not?

OP posts:
Nbg · 23/03/2007 19:34

Ooo no, not pre packed. From the counter.

JustineMumsnet · 24/03/2007 00:20

Ok, so lets get this straight - there's you (Ocd), Beety and Dottydot and possibly ggirl (though possibly she's more concerned about the lack of nice ham shops in her vicinity than whether they are on Mumsnet local - apologies ggirl if I'm being obtuse). SueW and Cappucino (surprise, surprise) want nice coffee shop listings, SueJonez would prefer a nice bread shop option and Twiglett is all for sweeties being represented - you call that a quorum?

(ps, and in no way wishing to disregard your preferences, we have 75000 members)

VeniVidiVickiQV · 24/03/2007 00:31

How do you know all 75000 dont want nice ham shops listed?

Have any of those 74992 members come forward to say they dont want those preferences?

Is mumsnet really ruled by the silent majority????

hatwoman · 24/03/2007 00:34

I am a big fan of Nice Ham. but not ocnvinvced we need it listing. if I were to be so lucky as to have a Nice Ham Shop open within a 5 mile radius of the HatHouse I would have sniffed it out long before it found its way on to mn. and when I go to strange places I forego nice ham for the weekend. or if visting friends I insist they source it.

hatwoman · 24/03/2007 00:35

hmmm I'm not at all convinced by this 75,000. how come there only seem to be about 10 who post?

CAM · 24/03/2007 00:36

Justine don't get drawn in ...........step away from the thread now

Nbg · 24/03/2007 07:13

But what about those mnetters that are moving to a new area?
Their whole decision making process could be determined by them looking at the nice ham shop listings on MN local.

I mean if theres no nice ham shop, wtf would you do?

Twiglett · 24/03/2007 09:22

don't you think rather than on a number of members basis you should do it on a total number of posts and the percentage of posts represented by those who are voting for nice ham shops

I think you might just find that on the percentage of mumsnet posts those posters listed would hold a majority vote

SueW · 24/03/2007 09:25

It would be very supportive of the current food movement to allow members to post details of local farm shops and similar e.g butchers and bakers.

mumsnet, please support 'Shop Local'

GreenandBlackOtter · 24/03/2007 09:33

I am sure our local butcher would sadly outshine you all in the sausage stakes mmmmmm I am vegetarian but they say its good

Ladymuck · 24/03/2007 09:38

I'm not that interested on the nice ham shops being posted (Waitrose does me very nicely), but, given the mumsnetters that Justine has named, I am amazed that she has thrown down the gauntlet in such a fashion!

She's usually so sensible...

littleEasterlapin · 24/03/2007 09:39

I was wondering who OCD was, and if she was on the Housekeeping threads... just figured out who Justine meant - slow today...

dear justine, as this is a thread you may conceivably be back on sometime soon, I need to know - I have just thought of a posting name I really really want and somebody else has it but has only posted in it 5 times, in Feb 06 - please can I buy it off her?

JanH · 25/03/2007 23:27

WelshBoris · 25/03/2007 23:27
