I've just had it on four pages on a row. So annoying! Why can't there be an MN Premium that you pay a small fee for, same site but ad free?

AngieMumsnet · 02/05/2017 19:16

Sorry about this, this was my fault, I have decreased the frequency of these mobile page edge ads.

Rainatnight · 02/05/2017 19:18

Awful

DermotOLogical · 02/05/2017 19:20

It's still there waaaaa

Thank you MN.

Fully appreciate MN needs the advertising revenue, it's just the balancing of it all.

SnickersWasAHorse · 04/05/2017 20:13

Make it stop HQ, please.

MNHQ - I can cope on my tablet but the all around 'site takeover' banners on the desktop version are very annoying

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 04/05/2017 22:16

WTF! And yes, I would rather pay for MN. This is the mobile site - the screen area is tiny anyway without shoving in massive ads like this!

I had toothbrush bloke too. I understand the need for ads but these ones are really annoying.

Horrible UX on a vertical view mumsnet. You really should restrict mobile to banner/Display.

AllTheWittyNamesAreGone · 05/05/2017 05:25

It takes up pretty much all of the space in the page of my phone making it shitty to navigate, i know you need ads but jesus..

As user says, poor UX (user experience).

When HQ look at the clickthrough rate for those ads and the average time spent on pages where they appear, they'll see whether they're worth it. Hopefully not.

BestIsWest · 05/05/2017 05:53

Yes, me too on my phone. Makes the whole thing pointless. I've given up using MN on my phone.

PseudoBadger · 05/05/2017 06:43

AllTheWitty that's the worst yet!

Smug toothy bellend is back again.

Cadsuane · 10/05/2017 11:15

This is really annoying. It is making me dizzy.
The biggest problem is that I usually scroll using my thumb on the right of the screen and it is awkward trying to avoid clicking the ad. That is probably why it is there but to be honest I have ended up just closing pages where these adds are and looking at something else instead. If they were permanent I would probably just give up altogether.

LornaMumsnet · 10/05/2017 16:34

Hi all,

Thanks for the feedback.

We're taking a look into this!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 10/05/2017 16:36

Thanks Lorna!

Smug toothy bellend is the perfect name for him.

If anything I'd have thought they'd want to avoid people clicking the ad by mistake. It's just going to confuse their stats.

StarlitTrees · 11/05/2017 05:42

This is a joke surely?? I
Impossible to use the site at be minute!!

I've just had a tooth fall in half. I personally blame the dentally perfect cockwomble.
And I already have one of those tooth brushes so he is preaching to the damn choir anyway. Bellend.

LornaMumsnet · 12/05/2017 09:08

Hi all,

We really appreciate that many MNers are finding some ads on the site intrusive- but as Mumsnet is a free-to-use site, we do rely on advertising revenue to keep the lights on.

That's not to say we don't want to hear from you if an ad is hampering your ability to use the site - we're always striving to get the balance right. If you think there's something awry with how the ads are behaving, please take a screenshot and drop us a line at [email protected] along with details of your browser, device and how it is impacting the usability of the site.

PseudoBadger · 12/05/2017 09:52

So Lorna, are MNHQ happy with the user experience in the mobile site when these ads are used?

AllTheWittyNamesAreGone · 12/05/2017 10:02

So tough shit then?

Snap8TheCat · 12/05/2017 10:17

Seems like a copy and paste job.

I've had exactly the same response on my thread.

AllTheWittyNamesAreGone · 12/05/2017 10:33

Ugh and I've just had the 'elsewhere on the web' clickbait boxes on the bottom of the pages. It looks bloody awful and tacky as fuck.
