'Subscribe' box in tv addicts - cannot close it

Hi
Very intrusive! The box pops up and cannot be closed. It is appearing currently tv addicts.

Any chance this could be sorted as it's making reading the forum impossible.

Thanks Smile

Hi, all!

Is anyone still having issues with this?

specialsubject · 18/04/2017 14:24

Have we all been unsubscribed please?

With the poor coding standard shown and evident lack of testing I would be quite concerned where the list of emails go. I use a different email for mn but still not good.

MyBeloved · 18/04/2017 15:51

Seems to be ok now...thank you!

We're really sorry for the inconvenience caused by this - we're looking into why the popup box didn't close.

We can assure you that any email addresses submitted through the popup are sent to us and only us.

specialsubject, from what we can see, your subscription didn't go through. We hope this sets your mind at rest.

specialsubject · 18/04/2017 16:05

It does, thanks. Might be time to find a different coder because the person who did this clearly isn't very good!

tribpot · 18/04/2017 16:49

Right so how do I unsubscribe, SorchaMumsnet? I haven't received anything yet so have no 'unsubscribe' option in an email to click on. But I completely object to being forced to subscribe to this bloody newsletter through the poor testing and amateur approach to IT rollout that are the hallmarks of MN.

SorchaMumsnet · 18/04/2017 17:26

We've just had another look - it appears our little popup didn't subscribe any of you after all. If you entered your email address, you're not subscribed.

So tribpot, no need to do anything.

We can only apologise again for the inconvenience that this has caused, we know it's been a total pain.

If at any point you are concerned, do review your subscription settings and edit as you see fit.

In the future, we'll try to ensure errors like this don't happen (especially whilst Homeland/Broadchurch are on...)

tribpot · 18/04/2017 17:42

Wow. Please do let your tech team know about the concept of testing, SorchaMumsnet. That really is pretty dreadful. The decision to launch a feature right before a 4 day weekend lies elsewhere, however.

SoulAccount · 18/04/2017 23:44

And not JUST a 4 day weekend, a 4 day weekend which had the finale of both Homeland and Broadchurch! Angry

tribpot · 19/04/2017 07:20

I'd imagine that was factored in, SoulAccount, i.e. a weekend when the board would have high traffic = capture a high proportion of subscribers for the newsletter, the purpose of which is to push advertising.

So you'd want to beta test it the week before, deploy it on the Wednesday so you had a full day of roll out ahead of the weekend, and have your tech team on call. Or, apparently, not.
