seriously, why do people report stuff? Obviously if it's defamatory or
offensive or a personal attack that upsets you then hit that button. But surely it's usually better to ignore and move on?

Morris AFAIK the rules don't allow for saying "reported" on thread either...

"Bertrand

You might not understand but there's a good chance it'll happen!"

I'm sure it would, but I genuinely didn't understand!

I never report trolls, unless they are also being personally unpleasant to someone who doesn't seem able to stand up for themselves. It always annoys me when MRA are reported and deleted, for example.I think the threads should be left so people can see what goes on.

I think people report things for all sorts of reasons. The decision to delete is always MNHQs though, and AFAIK they actually look at the report before making a decision.

It's not like you could follow someone around maliciously reporting posts so that they get deleted, MNHQ would probably have a stern word with you instead Grin

On a wider note though, it is quite interesting what people think is acceptable and unacceptable on site, and of course what MNHQ thing.

What you said about deleting MRAs is an interesting one, should "beyond the pale" posts be allowed to stand so that people can see them for what they are, or should they be deleted so we don't get overun with MRA posts left up to educate.

Censorship and moderation on a site is always a tricky one, broadly I think MNHQ get it right most of the time.

Good. Glad to see we are all on the same page Grin Mnhq were very professional when I contacted them.

I agree with you "actually that supreme" there are endless petitions out there and if they kept being splatted all over threads it could be annoying.

Off for some wine now Wine

For a moment there, OMG, I took your post to mean that you'd reported Fine and she'd been deleted.

I see that's not the case, though. Must have misunderstood you.

ChocolateFuzz · 19/02/2017 21:24

I've only reported once, it was someone attempting to share someone
someone else's private adress

OMGyoumustbekidding · 19/02/2017 21:27

I don't report unless I think someone is behaving in a way which would constitute an offence in normal circumstances. I am a firm believer in free speech and love a good debate so very keen not to close off avenues of conversation unless 100% necessary. Probably why I was a bit Hmm about being banned in the aforementioned thead, but the minor irritation it caused has worn off and I'm having some bubbly to celebrate. Grin
