Deleted to protect privacy- seriously?!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 07/11/2016 20:51

The tongue piercing thread, nothing on there that revealed the poster's true identify whatsoever yet it was deleted to protect privacy.

Can we just email HQ and ask for threads to be deleted now if people aren't agreeing with us?

Thank you YetAnother

hmmmm

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 07/11/2016 21:13

Thanks for the update YetAnotherHelen - I suppose I could find it in my heart to forgive you...

AyeAmarok · 07/11/2016 21:13

This has been happening rather a lot lately though, even if this time it was a mistake.

Mozfan1 · 07/11/2016 21:14

The bum cleaning thread has been deleted to protect posters privacy aswell. Another poster who just didn't like being disagreed with. 🙄

I so want to believe the explanation given upthread but this seems to be happening far too often for it to be an accident.

CurlySusanFox · 07/11/2016 21:23

Aren't MN a massive profit making firm? Maybe more help then if that busy.

Poor Helen, overworked and under paid no doubt (I'm serious)

Thanks for the sympathy, and of course TSSDNCOP but honestly, sometimes we can see conversations you can't, information you can't and sometimes we just hit the wrong button. We can go back and change it to 'bunfight' now (assuming we can even find the thread any more) and then get back to the mahoosive pile of reports sent in by you lovely people. Peace and goodwill to all women and all that. Smile

Waltermittythesequel · 07/11/2016 21:28

That has literally been their excuse every single time!

So annoying. Just bloody say that you delete threads at a poster's request. Then that's it! Angry Grin

We really aren't stupid

The bum cleaning thread has been deleted to protect posters privacy aswell.

Are you sure? Both of the bum wiping threads I was aware of are still there. This is MN though, and I fully accept that there may well be a plethora of other bum cleaning threads that I am blissfully unaware of Grin

The thread that was 'aibu to think my exes girlfriend shouldn't clean my daughters intimate areas' has been deleted. Said it was to protect her privacy but I think it should have been deleted because she kept name changing anyway. Wierd.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 07/11/2016 21:56

Mozfan Ohhhh - that one - way too many bum wiping threads on MN at the moment....

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans · 07/11/2016 21:56

YetAnotherHelen, I'd say the reaction is because it's not just one thread.

There seem to be a growing number of occasions where an OP throws a tantrum because she doesn't like the responses she's getting, declares she's going to get the thread deleted and then you post the message about not normally deleting but privacy. Admittedly we don't know how many threads you refuse to delete but in a lot of cases it looks like "Deleted because OP stropped" would be a better fit.

Mozfan1 · 07/11/2016 21:58

itsall it's trendy don't you know?!

Queenbean · 07/11/2016 22:04

Ummmm, does anyone really give a shit what the deletion message is?! I mean, it's gone it's gone, it ain't coming back.

We all know that it will be one of about five reasons, why all the frothing if the exact reason doesn't quite fit with what we expect?

YetAnotherHelenMumsnet · 07/11/2016 22:05

Yes, Empress, sorry we seem to have lost track of what's been said where but it has already been noted tonight that the wording of the message is getting on the collective nerves, and we have passed your thoughts on to the people who can change it.
Other than when we just hit the wrong button (the two are very close on our system) sometimes we just can't/won't comment on what has prompted a deletion, apart from acknowledging that privacy is an issue. Often we are doing other things in the background that it would be unfair of us to broadcast. We're sorry when we get it wrong, of course, and apologise again.

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans · 07/11/2016 22:09

Helen Flowers

We don't want to make you feel bad, honestly. What about ditching the privacy message altogether and having "Message deleted because TSSDNCOP"? Then people can just read into it what they want.

Queenbean · 07/11/2016 22:11

People get seriously het up waiting just to see the deletion message. All this "posting just to see deletion message" business is ridiculous.

AyeAmarok · 07/11/2016 22:12

Yeah TSSDNCOP would be better, and just use the privacy message when it really is a privacy issue.

HeckyWithTheGoodBear · 07/11/2016 22:15

What does TSSDNCOP mean?
