Slow performance, particularly in evenings

Just that - pages take an age to load at times, posts take ages to post.

Doesn't happen on other sites, so it's you - perhaps all the ads etc loading?

Using BT Infinity 1 - getting better than 38 M download speed in tests - and as I said, everyone else is fine.

I did some site comparisons as well.(And the results weren't good for MN.) I've got device capacity and bandwidth coming out from between my toes yet sluggish performance from this site seems to be commonplace.

leccybill · 10/09/2016 00:08

Been thinking the same thing lately too. Got to be the adverts, hasn't it.

Mabelface · 10/09/2016 00:09

I thought it was just my shitty laptop, but as I'm getting 47m on other sites, maybe not!

BoreOfWhabylon · 10/09/2016 00:13

This has been going on for ages. Periodically people complain, MNHQ ask Tech to sort and it improves for a bit but then comes back..

Yes, for a couple of weeks now I've been getting the v v v slow pages loading again.

Ipad safari desktop site.

RebeccaMumsnet · 10/09/2016 10:22

Hi all,

Thanks for raising this. We'll mail Tech now and ask them to report back. It may not be until Monday but we will flag it.

BoreOfWhabylon · 10/09/2016 12:33

Thanks Rebecca

wasonthelist · 11/09/2016 18:07

Thanks Rebecca although echoing what Bore says - my experience of talking to "tech" people in the hacking debacle didn't fill me with confidence.

Interesting. I just tried to access Mumsnet via the FF app and failed, receiving a message along the lines of 'This site is under heavy load. (Queue full.)'

Does MN need to invest in some more capacity?

cozietoesie · 12/09/2016 20:47

PS - here's the screenshot.

Very slow for me too, and keeps on telling me that a script on the page needs debugging.

NisekoWhistler · 13/09/2016 18:01

Someone in tech seriously needs to look at the hosting, this is getting worse

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 14/09/2016 14:43

Yep,I've noticed it too. Also noticed my phone keep crashing , I use the mobile site doesn't happen unless I'm on MN.

I thought it was my phone but pretty sure it's linked to using MN.

cozietoesie · 14/09/2016 15:30

I can't help wondering whether it's connected to the frequent app crashing.

It seems to be the only site that does this regularly.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 14/09/2016 15:37

I've had this too, and I'm also pretty sure it's the ads slowing things up.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 14/09/2016 15:38

Oh the irony, this is the second time I have tried to post this as last time it hung....

BoreOfWhabylon · 17/09/2016 01:06

No word from Tech yet then?

WaitrosePigeon · 17/09/2016 07:06

It's doing it to me too.

TheDowagerCuntess · 17/09/2016 07:08

Mumsnet is always disproportionately slow. I've just kind of got used to it.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 17/09/2016 09:12

Sometimes it's just so slow it's pretty unusable though

KateSMumsnet · 17/09/2016 11:38

Sorry chaps - we know it's annoying! We're doing all we can to speed things up, we promise.

BackwardElephants · 17/09/2016 11:45

This thread just loaded slower than any I have clicked on today! Grin

OrangeFluff · 17/09/2016 16:46

Yep I get this all the time with MN, never with other websites, makes MN unusable quite often.

wasonthelist · 17/09/2016 22:14

Hanging a fair bit when loading pages tonight.

cozietoesie · 17/09/2016 23:03

This evening, I visited the laptop to do something and had the interesting experience of two tabs working away - for other sites - and the MN tab spinning..... and spinning ........and spinning on the 'Problem Loading' tag until it finally gave up.

cozietoesie · 22/09/2016 20:37

It's looking increasingly as if the site just can't cope with demand. It's almost unusable at times.
