That warning about rats!!

Janefromdowntheroad · 14/05/2016 19:44

Seriously?

Hasn't this gone a bit far now? A warning because of a picture of a rat?

I can't get my head around a poster actually reporting that. How many reports do you need before you decide to add a warning?

What happens if 20 posters tell you they're scared of something do you just add a warning?

I'm actually agog

I actually want to test that theory with something random Grin

Janefromdowntheroad · 14/05/2016 19:49

Yes

We'll form a gang and randomly declare phobias of trousers over on S&B.

warning: this thread contains pics of trousers

There is a real 'I'm telling on you' element on MN at the moment

Janefromdowntheroad · 14/05/2016 19:52

don't click here if phobic

Trousers you say? You could have warned me what this thread about before I clicked on it!! I am reporting forthwith.

Buzzardbird · 14/05/2016 19:58

I love rats, what have I missed?

MadisonMontgomery · 14/05/2016 19:59

I have a massive phobia of rats - I didn't think to report it but so glad someone did. I know it seems daft but it was horrible clicking on the thread and seeing a photo of one.

PotatosMum · 14/05/2016 20:02

I'm phobic of spiders but if I clicked on a topic and there was a photo I would just click back... I can't look at the rat thread anymore, it was making me cross.

Hang on, did you say trousers?! Despicable! I must report this thread forthwith Shock

Janefromdowntheroad · 14/05/2016 20:02

It's overkill.

People have phobias of all kinds of stuff.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 14/05/2016 20:03

It's utterly ridiculous - I couldn't believe it when I saw it.

Janefromdowntheroad · 14/05/2016 20:03

MNHQ is there a magic number of reports before a warning?!

OP posts:
Janefromdowntheroad · 14/05/2016 20:04

It started with MN adding warnings to spiders years ago!!

I remember the outrage now. Old MNers are turning in their graves Wink

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 14/05/2016 20:05

People have phobias of all kinds of stuff.

People also have a habit of describing a mild dislike of something as a phobia...

TheChippendenSpook · 14/05/2016 20:05

Some people's thread titles provoke images that people may find disgusting/disturbing/cringe inducing. You just have to let it go and carry on with your day!

TheChippendenSpook · 14/05/2016 20:06

What I mean is with everything that is posted on here, there will be somebody who is upset about it.

Londonmum14 · 14/05/2016 20:10

I agree with you OP it's ridiculous!
What next?
Warning about a picture of a hamster? Or a ferret?

PurpleDaisies · 14/05/2016 20:15

I totally agree it's over the top.

chanice · 14/05/2016 20:17

I dunno the pics were normal. But when I saw the rat with the red eyes it made me feel sick and I don't really have a problem with them. I'm guessing people with phobias would feel a hell of a lot worse.

Janefromdowntheroad · 14/05/2016 20:19

YES mild dislike is NOT a phobia

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 14/05/2016 20:21

I really dislike all the warnings and trigger notices.
Open a thread at your own peril, in Chat and AIBU.

Also, in topics like Antenatal Choices or Health and similar sensitive matters can be expected.

Palomb · 14/05/2016 20:22

There are some seriously pathetic individuals on here if someone complained about the picture of someone's pet rat.

Why MNHQ pander to such bullshit is beyond me.

GooodMythicalMorning · 14/05/2016 20:23

Trousers you say? Arrgh they look too much like jumper arms. Take them away.

Janefromdowntheroad · 14/05/2016 20:24

How do people go about their day if a picture of a rat is genuinely that distressing they need to report to MN?

I'd rather have the child modelling threads and the pram huns back than all this warning/triggering shit
