I thought the Scenic ad was meant to be capped at once a day?

The Renault ad is definitely capped to open once per day. Of course this won't work if you've disabled cookies because then it won't know if you've already opened it. Could that be the problem?

Here's why we took this ad in bald numbers. For this type - ie expandable overlays - Mumsnet gets paid (net of all fees to the folks who run it for us) about £9 for every thousand pages it appears on. By comparison the fee for a regular (ie non expandable) ad works out on average at under £2.
We did also run it by folks first on site stuff and almost everyone who responded said it would be alright to give it a go.

It would be nicer, we agree, not to have any ads like this (in fact it would be nice not to have any at all) but we do have (quite a lot of) costs to meet and I guess we have to accept some level of commercialism if we are to keep Mumsnet free to use. We agree, though, that it's a fine balancing act and we do turn away a lot of pop-up type stuff plus a number of businesses who we know you'd rather not see on Mumsnet. Do continue to let us know your thoughts, though, it's always helpful when it comes to weighing up these things.
