I can't find any explanation of why mn was down. With the odd redirect and the history of the site over the summer, it would be rather good to have an explanation please.

This does sound like a cache issue. Info on how to clear you cache on different browsers

Not having a problem today - but been doing stuff in Rl today I got the same thing as moab - that was the layout of the error I was trying to describe in my post at Tue 22-Sep-15 12:03:53 (E/X/I what's the difference) - and it was trying to access the page through my bookmark (in Firefox) which is 'threads I'm on'. Definitely something funky going on yesterday - I also had a blue screen on my laptop (didn't notice the error as it auto reboots) when I tried to go to sleep mode (might be a coincidence but not had one for a year) and Firefox crashed on my tablet...when I was looking at MN...

Any better today unlucky?

This is probably the wrong thread - because it is related to JeffHackergate:

People have de-registered and re-registered again, are their previous user names now available

if so, a search on that name won't show the history or indicate the authenticity of that poster. I have seen one that I believe is being 're-used' by someone else. I have reported to MNHQ.

If you dereg, your Talk NN will not be available again. We can reassign them but it is a big job and we tend not to without really really good reason.

MN I still cant access from google search. It just goes to the page that says its temporarily down. I am having to log on through the link provided by MN yesterday in the facebook link

If you clear your cache (see above post) it should work again.

Do let us know if it doesn't.

I de-regged and re-regged with a different Email address when hackergate was going on.

So this is classed as a new account. I have been put on New so I have no options to customise anything at all.

I have just had the default colour for OPs and my posts since I re-regged.

Now I only have the OPs opening post in a different colour.

Although MNHQs posts are still blue.

You should still have highlighting, although in the default colours.

We did change things so that new posters cannot use classic and don't have as many options because we are slowly phasing them out due to the vast movement of people to mobile over the last few years. It is technically unsustainable to have so many customisable options and also the reading down to 1000 posts was slowing the site for everyone.

We know this isn't what you want to hear but we have tried to keep as much as we can without changing things too much.

Sorry, we're not ignoring you (you're not invisible and we CAN see your posts, at least Smile). Can I butt in to say I don't have my posts highlighted nor do I have the OPs posts on a thread highlighted and I don't have the facility in my customise section to set that.

I am using a pc, with, windows 10

Sorry meant to get back yesterday - much better yesterday. But I am having some connection/router problems which I have spoken to my provider about. I did get an unexpected web page turn up in my browser about that - also have google trying to get me to review my privacy settings and my antivirus telling me it out of date ...not feeling very comfortable at the moment but may well be nothing to do with mumsnet. However I have just clicked on the mumsnet icon in a new browser window (Firefox) rather than use the bookmark and I got a 'noscript error'...which is a bit odd (mentions chrome and I don't use chrome on any device!) That icon could have been from a few days ago. I am going to email it to tech with the description to be on the safe side...

Glad to hear things are a bit better for you, unlucky83. Hopefully our Tech team will be able to get to the bottom of the noscript error message.

And me? I thought things had improved and they have on the main computer (not being able to get into 'Threads I'm watching' but getting the error message) but not on the iPad. I managed to get a screen shot and send it, but I have not had an acknowledgment. In fairness I sent it late last night. I couldn't answer all the questions asked, so hope that does not impede investigation
