I can't find any explanation of why mn was down. With the odd redirect and the history of the site over the summer, it would be rather good to have an explanation please.

Agree,and not place marking

catzpyjamas · 22/09/2015 07:18

I agree. I just came on to Site Stuff looking for something about this. The site was down for ages and I've not had to log back in since which concerned me slightly (although still here).

magimedi · 22/09/2015 07:19

OYBBK - I cam on to start exactly the thread that you have.

It would be good to know what was wrong & have the reassurance that it was not another hack.

Ahh yes, I'm another one looking for a summary / explanation please. Think post jeffgate if we go down then people will understandably need more reassurance.

MTPurse · 22/09/2015 07:21

I'd agree. HQ have been very quiet about it.

duffaho · 22/09/2015 07:22

I obsessively checked twitter and was concerned that there were no updates as time went on .

TheProdigalSquonk · 22/09/2015 07:22

Aaaah, thought it was my works firewall.... first time I tried to log on from New office!

BestIsWestOfGallifrey · 22/09/2015 07:22

Yes me too. I saw somethindg about a database issue?

BrendaandEddie · 22/09/2015 07:23

they said it wasnt a hack, at one point

why does it matter to you? What are you going to do with that info?

Sparklingbrook · 22/09/2015 07:23

I am curious too.

FarFromAnyRoad · 22/09/2015 07:24

Is it just me or is AIBU still not there?

Mehitabel6 · 22/09/2015 07:24

They said 'follow on Twitter' and then there was nothing on Twitter for 5 hours!

magimedi · 22/09/2015 07:26

AIBU is OK for me.

BrendaandEddie · 22/09/2015 07:26

Maybe the pig thread caused a ruckus

hence binned it?

hates self for getting lured in Grin

Fabellini · 22/09/2015 07:26

BrendaandEddie that's a wee bit rude. I'd like to know too actually, and I'm not going to do anything with the info. I'd just like to know.
In the same way that I'd just like to know when it's going to stop raining and if my new shoes are ever going to be comfy......and 101 other things that I'd just like to know.

Mehitabel6 · 22/09/2015 07:26

Just checked and nothing on Twitter for 13 hours.

catzpyjamas · 22/09/2015 07:28

There was nothing on Facebook either after the initial post in the afternoon.

Nc19999992 · 22/09/2015 07:28

Yup me too.. I'm rather paranoid after the hacks...

LineyReborn · 22/09/2015 07:28

No updates here or on Twitter from MNHQ.

The Facebook redirect went (maybe still goes) to a website for M&Ms ffs. You know, the colourful sweets.

And if you Google Mumsnet you see 'This system is not correctly configured'.

So yes, an explanation would be nice.

Sparklingbrook · 22/09/2015 07:28

Maybe everyone spitting coffee over their keyboards with laughter at the pig thread broke it?

MissFitt68 · 22/09/2015 07:29

It was dadsec. Read his tweets

He says the police haven't got him yet

MTPurse · 22/09/2015 07:29

Brenda of course it matters, We just want to know our info is safe and not in the hands of Jeffrey.

Tirfarthoinn · 22/09/2015 07:29

I would like to know too please

AnyoneButAndre · 22/09/2015 07:30

I want to know too, simply because they're normally quite forthcoming with the details so it seems odd when they're so shtum.

OTOH I guess there's a fair number of reasons why they might be quiet. If for example there was a minor outage that couldn't be fixed quickly because of a member of staff's unavailability (for innocent or dubious reasons) then they might not want to broadcast that either for privacy reasons or because it would compromise the process of disciplining them.

Ironic that just after the "Nominate us for website of the year!" thread they fell over so catastrophically.
