I'm thinking that it will cost a bit to get the security on here sorted properly following all this bollocks, and I for one would be quite willing to pay a sub or just a one off donation in order to keep MN going - I know you don't need us to but if those of us who could, chipped in, it might make a difference?

Sorry if this is inappropriate. Thanks to all of you at HQ for the work you are doing. I can't imagine life without MN and though I realise not everyone is in a position to do this it would be worth every penny to me.

It's not "hilarious" that people want to do something to help. It's a valuable service and we value it - that's what we're saying.

Look at it this way. Do you think we should pay for privacy? To the bank? Fb? Your email provider? mn is no different.

Well banks do rely on your money. FBs pretty shaky isn't it in privacy terms? Don't tend to use email anymore apart to sign up to websites ... But yeah I do see your point

Fair enough - look it was just a thought. Tbh I've thought for years that it was worth paying for. Something like a fiver a year - but they didn't want to as that would stop those who really can't afford it from registering.

You pay them for the service they provide, your bill doesn't depend on how vulnerable they let your computer to be to hackers
