Cleaning up the royal threads

trufflesnout · 02/05/2015 11:30

Would it be possible to move all the royal threads into the royal section? And then put a banner up telling people to go to the royal section. There are currently at least 4 threads going just in _chat.

Well in that case is someone going to go along and check that every single thread is posted in the "right" area?

BadgersArse · 02/05/2015 12:54

you can - there are three little dots...

trufflesnout · 02/05/2015 12:55

Which threads are similar though? This is about a load of duplicate threads being posted on the most used boards for 'traffic'. This has happened before. To stop it happening again, MN created a royal topic to absorb the threads so no duplicates would be clogging up the 'main' board(s). It is happening again - so move them.

SquirmOfEels · 03/05/2015 09:46

All the fucking name threads are more than 'similar', and new ones are appearing this morning.

There are too many topics. No bugger uses them.

@Trills

There are too many topics. No bugger uses them.

And yet we're always getting requests to create new topics!

It's difficult to judge these things. We don't want to get all authoritarian and forbid people from posting anywhere other than the 'correct' topic.

And we think for this weekend at least it's okay for there to be a few chatty threads about the royal baby. We've just had another look in Chat and there's only one running at the moment, and none at all in Active Convos, so it seems the worst is over! Wink

We'll keep an eye on things, though, and will move any obvious contenders over.

Trills · 03/05/2015 17:36

Treat us them like small children.

No dear, you don't need more toys/topics, you have lots of toys/topics that you haven't played with in a while...

trufflesnout · 03/05/2015 19:43

There's yet more today, it's so bullshit. Create an 'official' one that people can fill up and redirect all others to the royal topic?

OP posts:
HuftysTrain · 03/05/2015 19:46

You could just not click on them? Confused

Behooven · 03/05/2015 19:47

Correct hufty!

trufflesnout · 03/05/2015 19:49

Oh yeah. Hurr durr.

OP posts:
TheSpottedZebra · 03/05/2015 19:53

Could we pretend that we want to keep the riveting pink crown talk saved for ever rather than it disappear in Chat, so let's move them to the Royals topic?

Behooven · 03/05/2015 20:14

Aww, a pink crown, what a lovely idea. Wish I'd though of that!
Oh wait....Hmm

EdithWeston · 03/05/2015 20:22
Crown
Behooven · 03/05/2015 23:59

Grin Grin

AuntieStella · 04/05/2015 09:45

Yet another new thread this morning.

Any chance of reconsidering, and shoving all those currently in AIBU into the Royal Family?

So that people see there is a royalist section? And perhaps even see that just about every angle you can think of has a thread already and it's OK to join in (rather than keep starting more)

26Point2Miles · 04/05/2015 09:53

Op are you seriously complaining about 4 royal threads in chat?? 14 I could understand, but just 4??!

There are half a dozen threads just in baby names, from the 'guess the name of the baby' 'siblings for George' and worried posters with impending births wanted reassurance that 'Wills and Kate' won't use 'their' baby name.

Tedious doesn't begin to cover it.

trufflesnout · 04/05/2015 13:28

There are way more than 4. And Maryz is right, a lot are not solely about the birth of the baby but things discussing how George and Kate dress.

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 04/05/2015 13:31

Can we have a 'Tedious Topic'. Stick everything in there?
