Where to post your 'introduction'?

Maybe I'm being blinded by the awkward forum navigation on MN (phpbb anyone? lol) but I can't see where new members can introduce themselves...

Is there anywhere?

I have never seen anyone introduce themselves on mumsnet. Its huge, do you realise how many members there are Confused on the local boards I can understand people introducing themselves, since you may actually meet people in your town/city...but otherwise, not so much Smile

Welcome anyway! Brew

HoppityVoosh · 28/04/2015 10:31

Nobody introduces themselves. Just start posting! It's meant to be anonymous.

Sycamoretrees · 28/04/2015 10:35

Just a suggestion, but effectively introducing your self to a community by being rude about where it meets it's a great start!

ChangingTiming · 28/04/2015 10:37

Introductions?? Just fill out your profile with all your details including address/DOB and passport number, change your user name from Vincent T to include your DOB and your good to go

VincentT · 28/04/2015 10:39

Thanks for the clarification... wasn't desperate to introduce myself just didn't want to get shot down for not doing it!

The fact that one of the most popular threads on this technical sub-forum is about someone's baby being Prime Minister tells you all you need to know about how the forums on here are organised and moderated lol!

Might check out some of MN's rivals before getting too involved as spending half an hour on here is a frustrating experience...

Aye, we'll keep your seat warm...

GooseyLoosey · 28/04/2015 10:41

Just change your view to "active conversations" and see if there is anything that interests you.

If not, as that is pretty representative of the discussions on the site, you are right that it might not be for you.

Atavistic · 28/04/2015 10:42

Don't introduce yourself. We've figured you out already.

usualsuspect333 · 28/04/2015 10:42

Bye then.

HoppityVoosh · 28/04/2015 10:42

Most people lurk for a while to get a feel of the place before signing up and posting. You don't have to like it here, I would have thought you'd work that out before signing up Hmm

DarylDixonsDarlin · 28/04/2015 10:46

ur postings, ur rules hun xx

Grin
KatoPotato · 28/04/2015 10:47

Do the nethuns have such a thing? With rolling smilies crashing into sparkling 'bubz, hubz and yummy mummy me' text?

fairnotfit · 28/04/2015 10:47

spending half an hour on here is a frustrating experience

So you've found AIBU then? Grin

"lol" indeed...

Will you make me a Brew DarylDixonsDarlin I'm trapped in my bed...

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 28/04/2015 10:49

Good grief, this is one of the easiest forums to navigate, IME. Unless it's on the mobile site, which is shit (IMO). Desktop site though - no problem.

Don't bother introducing yourself, just either pile in or, if you hate it already, go elsewhere.

VincentT · 28/04/2015 10:51

Thanks to HoppityVoosh & GooseyLoosey for the constructive posts!

I assume those taking fair and constructive criticism of the technology behind the MN forums personally were responsible for coding it themselves... Wink

Brew Cake too? Not poorly I hope, Kato?

Perhaps Vincent was not impressed with my tea making skills

SoupDragon · 28/04/2015 11:03

Um... You did notice that the threads about Toddler PM and Fantasy Government were starts by MNHQ didn't you...?

Welcome to MN :)

KatoPotato · 28/04/2015 11:05

Just preggo and fit to burst! Mat leave started today and I seem to have turned into a head amongst pillows and duvets... There is cake space however!

VincentT · 28/04/2015 11:08

SoupDragon - yes i did! Quod erat demonstrandum... lol

DonVitoCorleone · 28/04/2015 11:09

On Nethuns everybody starts a new thread to introduce themselves.

HTH

Lancelottie · 28/04/2015 11:17

Gosh. It feels like ages since we've had a thread telling us we ought to be doing it better.

Oh, wait.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 28/04/2015 11:22

Hmm, really don't think this is the right place for you Vincent. Hope you find something that suits you better.

SoupDragon · 28/04/2015 11:25

SoupDragon - yes i did! Quod erat demonstrandum... lol

All it demonstrates is that you are making assumptions that aren't true.

It is site stuff. Stuff for the site and the people who run it. You've made an incorrect assumption that is is technical stuff only.
