I hope they're paying you really well, Mumsnet

Because isn't this diluting the brand, somewhat? It's prominent, at the top of the page on the desktop site and the storymakers part of the logo takes up more space than the mumsnet logo.

I appreciate that sponsors and advertisers keep the site going, but this makes me question the impartiality of Mumsnet. However good the storymakers site might be (I don't know, its irrelevant to my kids,so I haven't checked it) it belongs to a manufacturer of cheap chocolate, marketed towards children.

Is that really an association you want to make so prominently?

I miss Jackson, too. Jelly's career took off with the Green Balloon Club, but Jackson disappeared off the face of the Earth.

He probably spends his days in a seedy pub, somewhere, drinking away his dreams of what might have been.

Oh fuck. I've started with the story makers earworm now.

Thanks very bloody much!

Love Kinder chocolate. It's my favourite. Don't give a monkeys about the Pink/Blue eggs either.

Just saying...

ssd · 09/03/2015 14:19

anyone who is in an uproar about blue or pink eggs is kidding themselves on

Are you in paid work? I would advise you getting some perspective

Lol at Blue Cow. Yes I immediately thought of the CBeebies Storymakers too. Loved how they were all named after poets - Wordsworth, Rosetti, Milton...?

You absolutely can't get the orange eggs around here and we therefore no longer buy them. I actually really liked the chocolate. My 11 year old dd wouldn't let me - can assure you she's not kidding herself on ssd. She's just very anti 'girls' and 'boys' marketing.

JennyOnTheBlocks · 09/03/2015 16:45

i do a mean impression of Jelly when she says 'Oh look, we're in Bill Oddie's garden!'

not seen the invasive advert though

Carpetcrawler · 09/03/2015 17:03

I use an Adblocker (sorry MNHQ) but the Ads slow MN down and it's a slow enough site as it is.

I'm meh about the pink and blue egg thing. I can't really get worked up about it.

Sparklingbrook · 09/03/2015 17:16

I have Blur (formerly Do Not Track me) so don't see any ads.

Hmm. Maybe my concern about Jackson's disappearance from the public eye is a little strong. I'm sure he's actually enjoying a quiet life, somewhere, with his own private library.

I do think its great that they have done this with the eggs. Although personally I do find the orange eggs do have the best toys in them (I have a personal collection of little velvet covered animals from those ones Blush)

The ones who are anti Girl/Boy marketing can buy whatever colour they want. The ones whose kids would rather have a certain type of toy can also choose.

Everyones happy.

BadPoet · 09/03/2015 17:27

Gah that's just it though - I haven't seen the orange ones for months! They just don't stock them round here any more. And I do miss them, even if the chocolate to plastic ratio was all wrong.

Sizzlesthedog · 09/03/2015 17:44

The app isn't all that, really. Our books haven't turned up yet.

Thanks for the feedback - it's a fair point about the logo and I agree we should think carefully before allowing brands to mess with it. As some have said, obviously we need to with advertisers as that's what keeps the site free but I take the point about pink-blue stuff and we will certainly think very carefully when it comes to the logo going forward.
