Those awful drop down pictures under the Mumsnet logo

I hate them. Over and over again they appear when I'm about to click on something else and I click just fractionally too late and find myself on the breastfeeding topic or something else which is of no interest to me at all any more, thank god. Can't you get rid of them? Apart from anything else I am sick to death of the images, which I have seen millions of times each now.

They are seriously the most irritating thing abut this site. I have sometimes even had to go off the site because I had been caught once too often in one session.

I can really see no purpose to them being so sensitive other than they are someones vanity project and must remain despite the storm of protests about them. Of course they are in the most irritating place possible.It has to be deliberate .

Im going to have to stop thinking about this because otherwise I will end up infuriating myself into doing a flounce .And then what would I do with all those hours I gain?

Yeah this has driven me crazy for ages. It's not the images, it's the fact that they drop down all the time when I don't want them, then obscure the entire page I'm trying to look at.

Please can they be set to only appear when clicked on, not on hover-over?

I'm bored of the pics as they've been the same for ages.
And I dislike the drop down menus as if I want them, then I'll click on them and wait for the page to load. If I don't want them and they appear as I click, then I have to wait for the page to load then go back and wait for that page before finally waiting for the page that I originally wanted.

I'm glad it's not just me.

Worst thing is the pictures. Don't care for the mega menus either, BUT if they have to stay, it would be wonderful to never see the pictures again :-)

I would quite like the pictures themselves if they didn't keep bloody appearing when I'm trying to click over something else. I think it's because the MN design team have super whizzy mega computers and many of us have ancient versions of Windows so response to a click lags a few seconds behind speed of scrolling

It's cute! I actually like the pictures, I like the pregnant woman with the plaits, she's cute too. Just don't want to see her every time I move the mouse.

I hate both. The pictures and the fact the fucking menus appear when you mouse over, which (given their location) is far too easy to do without meaning to.

Shitting awful. Just to be clear. I'm assuming the next major overhaul of the desktop site will be to optimise it for touch screens, in which case all this mouse over bollocks will need to go anyway.

I hate them with a passion. The drop down menus are an unnecessary pain in the arse -I can click my mouse if I want to. But the pictures, they make me want to throw things at the screen. I hate them all.

We do have plans for a navbar refresh in the not-so-faraway future and we will take your ahem suggestions, onboard. Perhaps not your first image Sparkling Wink

Oh good! Personally I rather liked Sparkling's first image, but there aren't many that stand up to being seen as often as these are.

I think the trouble is that if you're multi-tabbing in firefox/chrome etc then if you go up to a new tab you inevitably trigger the bloody pictures on the way down to the main page.

I always think the pics look a little nethuns - all a bit too 'we're mad and crazy, just because we're parents doesn't mean we're not still COOL AND FUNNY xoxoxo'
