How exciting

OP posts:

Like it - but did like the previous version as well

Dottydot · 16/10/2006 20:16

I think you need to do warnings before you make big changes like that though - I nearly had heart failure when I first opened it - thought for a second MN had gone and been taken over by someone else!!

Personally (and I don't expect you to change it just for me ) I'm not keen on the blue - it's very NHS and now reminds me of work - which I should be doing when I'm MNing...

Dottydot · 16/10/2006 20:17

ooh yes, I second Notts Mum - please don't roll out the font to the talk pages - it's not as easy to read.

TheUnholyTrinity · 16/10/2006 20:31

thats exactly what I thought dotty

sunchowder · 16/10/2006 20:42

I myself was strangely comforted to see that talk had NOT changed too.....OMG I am so fucking old! Homepage looks great and I like the new spot for talk too!

suedonim · 16/10/2006 20:46

Too much blue, I don't like blue! And imo the font looks rather old-fashioned and basic. But apart from that, it's fine.

JustineMumsnet · 16/10/2006 20:51

Hi guys - new font on it's way tomorrow - will be clearer. The original design was Geneva but it turns out that doesn't show up on explorer only macs, so we are returning to Verdana which we agree is much clearer - thanks, as ever, for the input.
Mumsnet Towers

LOL, the stuff about SheWhoMustNotBeNamed is linked from the homepage now And when you click it, you can look at the press coverage.

WHO is the fab and witty literary genius of a Mner who wrote that article called Baby Bomber (and culprit of the South Lebanon comment, ahem )? Her name is Jospephine Wall.. but what is her REAL (Mumsnet!) name!! She is so funny.. I want to read everything she has ever written and don't know who she is as I was (sadly) not privy to the notorious thread in question.

ShinyHappyPurpleSeveredHeads · 16/10/2006 20:54

Sunchowder, what you mean you're not hankering after the odd ticker.. stating such information as "4 mins, 3 seconds since last Very Inflammatory and Potentially Libellous Comment was posted..." all done in lovely pastel colours of course..?

edam · 16/10/2006 20:56

Hmmm what fount is that? Looks a bit like verdana. I like it personally, simple and easy to read - MN has always been about making the site straighforward to use and avoiding unnecessary bells and whistles.

IMO looks v. nice overall but agree too much blue, could do with a second colour.

hub2dee · 16/10/2006 21:00

Justine - are you lot really sure about the blue ? It's erm, very blue !

Are you trying to attract more men or something ? LOL

Dottydot · 16/10/2006 21:07

Phew - the font's changed and it's slightly less NHS blue I think - looks better!

hub2dee · 16/10/2006 21:09
Dottydot · 16/10/2006 21:09

That dark purple colour on the adopt an orphan advert is lovely

hub2dee · 16/10/2006 21:09
Dottydot · 16/10/2006 21:10

Actually this is just like being at work, where I'm trying to persuade our IT guy to drop the NHS blue and go with purple!

FillyjonkthePumpkinEater · 16/10/2006 21:11

i liked the old page more

hub2dee · 16/10/2006 21:15
FillyjonkthePumpkinEater · 16/10/2006 21:16

i liked the parents holding babies

and the borders around things

I mean, its active convos I have bookmarked but..

ah, I suppose change in inevitable in all things...

Dottydot · 16/10/2006 21:29

The font's changed again! (is this a test..?!)

JustineMumsnet · 16/10/2006 21:34

Have a look tomorrow - we've tweaked a bit and it is indeed a bit less blue. Let us know what you think.

ShinyHappyPurpleSeveredHeads · 16/10/2006 21:48

A little more purple/lilac would be lovely It's a nice spiritual colour.

hub2dee · 16/10/2006 22:14

Justine - are you following the Barnet corporate blue used in all the signposts ? LOL

I think maybe a pixel spacing at the top to space the banner ads down a tad. Also consider rounding off the top left and top right 'mumsnet' / 'parents' corners with a rounded edge instead of 90 degrees. Looks a bit harsh.

And I've just seen you've put the fainting fathers on featured threads when you know full well it's got me in all my glory post floor-inspection.

Also I'd vertically centre the DSC logo next to 'Hosting by'

I am a picky little git.

hub2dee · 16/10/2006 22:20

Also, if you've moved the case on 'by parents for parents' to all lowercase, I'd de-capitalise the B. Now please tell me to f*ck off.
