The Mumsnet Secret Santa - donations needed!

We hope you've seen the thread started by SantaSandyMumsnet about this year's Mumsnet Secret Santa, and if you're anything like us, you'll be full to the brim with festive good will and excitement about the whole thing

We've now closed the nominations page - a huge thank you to everyone who has got involved so far. At the moment we're about 50 donations short, so that's why we're asking everyone to put on their Christmas thinking caps, and see if there's anything they can contribute.

If you're not in the position to donate then do not worry at all - we quite understand that not everyone can. If you feel able to, you can make your donation here. Donations usually come in around the £10 mark, but anything above or below this is still very much welcome. Any gift big or small, second hand or new, is truly treasured - and will make a big difference to someone's Christmas.

Thank you again to everyone who has nominated and donated - we've got a feeling this is going to be one of the best years yet

The Mumsnet community has 'gifted' me support and some very dear friends over the last couple of years, it's nice to give a little back at Christmas. X

I didn't even know this existed until I just read a message saying I've been nominated and now I have something in my eye...

Have also applied to donate now. This is lovely.

Curious, a group in my city collects new and nearly-new toys to distribute as gifts to people they know are in need. I am sure other griups/charitiea/churches do similar, if you ask around.

I'm in the ROI. I'm a doctor (but not junior or short of money), with no children. I'd be delighted to donate money, but unfamiliar with the scheme. Long term mumsnetter, btw. If anyone from MNHQ would contact, I'll donate around 100 Sterling.

When do we hear back about where to send our donations?

They are trying to match donors to nominees, the donations form closes on Friday, so sometime next week.

Congratulations to everyone who's been nominated. You're a lovely lot and all the heartfelt nominations have brought tears to our eyes here at MNHQ.

You're a generous bunch too, so a massive thank you to all who have made a donation this year.

Donations close this Friday 7th November THEN the spreadsheets will be dusted off and the matching process begins.

This matching malarkey takes time, so the mails to donors giving all the details of their match will not drop into your mail boxes until the first week of December.

Parcels will then start to arrive anytime mid December.
