Troll hunters and HQ.

If a poster is accused of being a troll on a thread numerous times and by more than one person then HQ pull the thread because of troll hunting shouldn't the accused be vindicated by HQ first?

OP posts:
wantacatplease · 15/10/2014 13:43

Maybe their posts would still show up, even if banned. I dunno.

ChippingInLatteLover · 15/10/2014 13:45

Beyond :(

BeyondPreparedForHell · 15/10/2014 13:45

Nope, just shows their threads or "no matches found"

Wow, the poster was a new poster when i suspected them last night, yet since then has posted on 42 threads!!

MiddletonPink · 15/10/2014 13:46

The poster that you accused of trolling is still posting today Beyond, which puzzles me a bit tbh.

OP posts:
BeyondPreparedForHell · 15/10/2014 13:51

My first email from hq was at 10.51, second at 12.07

MiddletonPink · 15/10/2014 13:59

Today?

OP posts:
BeyondPreparedForHell · 15/10/2014 14:04

Yup

MiddletonPink · 15/10/2014 14:07

It's good that you have had a reply I suppose.

OP posts:
wantacatplease · 15/10/2014 14:08

Beyond, have they clarified to you via
email whether they thought the poster is genuine?

BeyondPreparedForHell · 15/10/2014 14:15

As i said in my first post here, i dont understand why they have shared an opinion with me, yet not in public (or even with middleton when she asked specifically). And as they have not shared it in public, i will not share it here.

Regardless of what hq said, my opinion of it the poster is the same. Especially seeing that her hamster died yesterday too.

BeyondPreparedForHell · 15/10/2014 14:16

(Btw are you k8? I keep automatically going to type k8 when i reply to you!!)

SomeoneAteMyHam · 15/10/2014 14:18

Confused. I don't see the connection. Have I missed something?

SomeoneAteMyHam · 15/10/2014 14:20

Also slightly OT but thought I'd ask anyway - how do you search for a members posts?

MiddletonPink · 15/10/2014 14:31

Go to advanced search type in username and bingo.

Ok had a vague email from Rowan.

OP posts:
wantacatplease · 15/10/2014 14:41

That's ok, Beyond, I was just wondering if they gave an opinion at all, not trying to nose out what they specifically said.

SomeoneAteMyHam · 15/10/2014 14:41

Thanks pink.

BeyondPreparedForHell · 15/10/2014 14:48

Sorry, wantacat, that post sounds shitty and i didnt mean it to. Just trying not to give clues as to what they said, and its quite hard to post about something without mentioning it! Grin

BOFster · 15/10/2014 14:56

Officer Grin

wantacatplease · 15/10/2014 15:24

That's ok Beyond. I lurked on the thread yesterday eve, I saw how frustrating the whole thing was. Thanks

KateSMumsnet · 15/10/2014 15:49

Hullo everyone,

OK, there seem to be several things going on here, and we'll try to be as clear as possible

Whilst troll hunting is against our talk guidelines, if there's an OP that obviously a troll (we're talking about Brian from Hull proportions here), we're not going to fall over ourselves deleting troll hunting posts.

We recently deleted a thread because we had some doubts about the OP. Someone started a thread asking what happened to it, as it was about quite a serious matter. We posted to explain why we'd deleted it, and at the time, given the sensitive nature of the thread, it seemed like the best idea to remove it. Though in hindsight, it perhaps would have been best to leave it up so people could satisfy their curiosity.

Last night there was a new thread about the first thread we deleted, in which some posters alluded to the fact we'd not been sure about the OP, which naturally lead to some discussion about the thread. We deleted the thread for troll hunting, but again, this might not have been the best course of action, as it seems to have created more confusion, so we're v sorry about that.

We've no desire to stifle debate or discussion, but without giving too much away, one of the reasons we were perhaps a bit hasty to get rid of the threads is that we didn't want to give any ammo to a potential troll.

Generally, we try not to endorse posters, because as others on this thread have said - we can never be absolutely 100% sure about someone. If you have doubts about a poster, the best thing is to come to us (sorry to sound like a broken record).

All as clear as mud? Goodo Smile

SomeoneAteMyHam · 15/10/2014 16:08

Is it bad to worry about stuff like this?

BeyondPreparedForHell · 15/10/2014 16:20

I guess hq are not going to comment publicly about the one poster on the third thread then Grin

BeyondPreparedForHell · 15/10/2014 16:21

Thank you though kate, that is a good explanation without mentioning any specific details! :)
