Some of MNHQ are going to be getting very muddy and sweaty to raise funds for Refuge!

At MNHQ, we like a good challenge. And without sounding too sanctimonious, we also like to help a good cause - and if it's a cause that we know the discerning Mumsnet masses would approve of, it's even better. That's why when Refuge got in touch asking if anyone from Mumsnet wanted to create a team to take part in Mudderella, we leapt at the chance (after finishing our Cake and Brew).

On August 30, a crack team from MNHQ will be running possibly ambling towards the end a 5-7 mile obstacle course to raise money for Refuge. Our mildly Herculean and completely lovely team consists of (drum roll please): StuartMumsnet, ZoeMumsnet, RachelCMumsnet, TinaMumsnet, KateSMumsnet and MichelleMumsnet.

Refuge do fantastic work helping woman and children who have experienced domestic violence; you can read more about their work here.

So if you can (and as ever, please only if you can afford it), we'd be over the moon if you could contribute to our fundraising here. We'd be hugely grateful for any sum, however small.

If you aren't able to donate (and we do completely understand that it's not always possible), then we're also very much in the market for messages of support, motivational GIFs, MNHQ avatars constructed from emoticons, and (almost) anything else - so as ever please use this thread as you see fit...

With the power of Mumsnet behind us, going down a giant slide into a pit of muddy water won't be scary at all.

Thanks and HWURGH

Kate... Harvey is Harvey Walden of Celery Fit Club fame... www.harveywaldeninc.com/

He's frightening and awesome in equal measure although I've never had the privilege. I've done a week's boot camp though, amazing!

Harvey doesn't want you to wear flares, WE DO (and we have NOT forgotten) www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/2145529-MNHQ-calling-Giving-Week-our-recent-match-funding-drive-your-thoughts-please? Wink

... and you have to have photos of it or it didn't happen. Grin

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 16/08/2014 17:45

Shock... Celery? Celebrity!

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 16/08/2014 17:54

... and here's another picture of Harvey in a pristine white t-shirt... I wouldn't want to be in your flares if you splashed mud on him. Shock

If he was going to be there, I could even drag myself away from my laptop to come and cheer you on. I would dearly love to be shouted at by Harvey! Grin

Oh I seeee. He does look rather impressive Grin

Y'know, funnily enough I have a pair of running trews that are quite flared. I don't wear them very often because I'm worried they make me look like a knob. But perhaps they will have to be part of my Mudderella outfit...

Oh definitely, Kate! Grin

Do you all have MNHQ t-shirts so that you can be properly identified and not scamming us out of flare-wear by photographing random performers pretending it's you whilst you do the course incognito?

CaptChaos · 16/08/2014 18:49

Have loads of fun! Grin

WorraLiberty · 16/08/2014 20:43

Good luck!

And yes, we soooo need photos Grin

CormoranStrike · 17/08/2014 00:57

Did you mean to be so rude?

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 17/08/2014 18:25

I didn't think that was rude. I think it looks much more fun than Tough Mudder. TM seems to be very, very focussed on fitness and achieving personal bests and then beating them. Nothing wrong with that but I'd be happier doing TM-lite with friends.

It IS a fab cause whether it's supported by blood, sweat and tears or mud, squealing and laughter.

'A Barbie version'?

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 17/08/2014 18:50

Well I like Barbie... :(

I don't think it was intended as an insult, really I don't. It's a wonderful thing to do whatever it's referred to as.

Brilliant you're doing this Grin

Blondieminx · 18/08/2014 10:24

Sounds a great challenge, you are all far braver than me! Grin have donated & wishing you all the very best on the day!

sydlexic · 18/08/2014 14:29

What a relief, for a second there I thought you were going to ask me to run.

RachelCMumsnet · 19/08/2014 12:18

When Kate wears her flares for training it's the highlight of my week day...

Thank you again so much for the donations, you are all so lovely!

KateSMumsnet · 19/08/2014 15:28

Training is going well. MichelleMumsnet took us up to Parliment Hill Fields and put us though our paces.

It was a very serious, professional operation.
