"Add a Message

It is with great regret that we have to ask members to refrain from any further discussion of Gina Ford, her methods or her books on the site. To find out why click here. We'd be very grateful if members could report any mentions of Gina Ford using the "contact Mumsnet" facility (the little red exclamation mark to the right of each posting). Many thanks. MNHQ. "

Never seen it before.

Don't go, custy!

CountessDracula · 07/08/2006 11:45

Anyone is free to write reviews on Amazon I believe. Strange that negative views on their review boards are not subject to the same gagging as mumsnet.

Could it be because they have enough dosh to defend themselves? Not for me to say really.

wannaBe1974 · 07/08/2006 11:46

ok what date are we going to submit this petition to the home office?

piglit · 07/08/2006 11:46

Better get your amazon orders in now before it's shut down.....

aitch71 · 07/08/2006 11:47

it's entirely possible that there are other similar reviews in the amazon queuing system... apparently it can take up to a day for them to appear. can't think why i would know that...

Tortington · 07/08/2006 11:47

tempting scummy - now shut it an get on with yer dissertation.

edam · 07/08/2006 11:47

Thanks Jan, fab review. Would add my own except I've already spent ages getting wound up about this and not doing any work!

Astrophe · 07/08/2006 11:47

at the amazon review

alexsmum · 07/08/2006 11:47

i wonder if it would be worth us clubbing together to pay the £40 for someone to be a member on her site and go on and make our point there?

JanH · 07/08/2006 11:48

I was just thinking that too, CD - there are some very scathing ones but presumably amazon's lawyers are bigger than anyone else's dads.

It's hard to know what to say to this, or even what is permissable to say, other than and .

(and also to add that; MP - if you're going to be a notorious poster, what a fantastic way to become one!!!)

I will be up for any action required from Mumsnetters

Astrophe · 07/08/2006 11:48

where is the petition Wannabe?

PiccadillyCircus · 07/08/2006 11:49

Bit concerned that review gave it as many stars as it did really .

JanH · 07/08/2006 11:49

I don't think you can ever give something 0 stars in an online review, PC - someone was complaining about that on another review site I read recently.

edam · 07/08/2006 11:50

Wannabe, has anyone set up a petition, and can you link to it, if so? If we are calling for a change in the libel law, need to submit it to the legal bit of the Government - can't remember which bit covers civil law - Lord Chancellor? Someone will know. Or all our MPs? And send a copy to her publishers.

wannaBe1974 · 07/08/2006 11:50

I'm in the process of creating it but am having problem with the date -

re joining up to the site in question, imo you would be banned as soon as you submitted a bad comment, and it would be ve hard to do it without putting mn in a bad light.

JanH · 07/08/2006 11:51

I've got to go to work shortly dammit

Hope this thread is still here when I get home.

StinkyPete · 07/08/2006 11:52

oh dear, i'm just going off james cos of the watford gap business

wannaBe1974 · 07/08/2006 11:53

Edam and in process of setting up the petition as we speak - just putting the text in now - i.e. explaining our cause - any input gratefully received ...

CountessDracula · 07/08/2006 11:54

Can I suggest you run it by MNHQ before linking to it from here? I think it would be sensible

alexsmum · 07/08/2006 11:54

guess so wannabe-just trawling the corners of my brain trying to think of anything we can do.so about this.

right i really have to move away from the computer.haven't even had a cup of tea today yet, and staring at the screen is making my eyes go funny.

will be back later for an update-don't do anything too dramatic without me!

Tortington · 07/08/2006 11:55

fattiemumma · 07/08/2006 11:56

petition for free speech HERE

NomDePlume · 07/08/2006 11:56

Blimey, this situation just gets more and more f*cked up. What a pathetic thing to do (not the protest, or MNHQ's request, the other thing).
