"Add a Message

It is with great regret that we have to ask members to refrain from any further discussion of Gina Ford, her methods or her books on the site. To find out why click here. We'd be very grateful if members could report any mentions of Gina Ford using the "contact Mumsnet" facility (the little red exclamation mark to the right of each posting). Many thanks. MNHQ. "

Never seen it before.

Edam! You were great!

edam · 07/08/2006 11:17

Wannabe, have mentioned elsewhere that we should consider a protest outside her publishers' offices, maybe wearing gags and holding up placards saying 'Silenced by Gina'. Who is up for it?

twinsetandpearls · 07/08/2006 11:17

hunkermunker · 07/08/2006 11:19

I love the smell of a good protest in the morning...

I'm sure there's a way this can be set up.

I'll have a think later.

Perhaps a yahoo group - membership only?

Tortington · 07/08/2006 11:20

Yes edam lovely voice

Uwila · 07/08/2006 11:20

Oh, that's a great idea. Do you think Gina has deep enough pockets to take on Yahoo????

wannaBe1974 · 07/08/2006 11:20

f we protested though we would have to be sure it was very peaceful. Also we need to be sure that when protesting/petitioning we're not too personal about it. It's true that one person has provoked this need to protest/petition, but she most likely won't be the last, so the petition needs to be seen to be well thought out, because we want to have freedom of speech, it mustn't be seen to be us petitioning for the right to slag off one particular individual.

Piffle · 07/08/2006 11:22

We should simply post all copies of her books we can find back to her publisher.

alexsmum · 07/08/2006 11:22

i'm up for turning up with the dss' and waving a placard

edam · 07/08/2006 11:23

at Custy. My interview voice, darling (used to do a bit of that stuff when I had a proper job)!

snowleopard · 07/08/2006 11:23

How interesting that people can succeed in banning themselves being mentioned mon an internet forum (naming no names, just speaking generally, as obviously a precedent is being set here) and in doing so make themselves more unpopular with anyone who did not like them, and turn people who did like them right off them - making people want to discuss them all the more. Oh but they can't because it's banned.

  1. Anyone who does such a thing should read 1984. This way, if you wander far enough, lies totalitarianism, thought police and the end of free society.

  2. Anyone who is scared of being discussed on the Web should also go on a marketing course. If people are discussing you and your work online, and some slag you off and others support you, anyone who's never heard of you will get interested. No such thing as bad publicity and all that.

sansouci · 07/08/2006 11:24

yours disgusted! some people have massive insecurity issues, eh?

freedom of speech has become a joke.

imo petition shouldn't be a yahoo group/open to members only site, such a petition needs to be done publically, because the more people that know about it, the more signatures we will get. If we make it members only there will be less publicity about it.

CountessDracula · 07/08/2006 11:26

Elvis Wonderwall????
